If the USB port is loose, that means that the port has come of the circuit board. This happened to a friend of mines, his son did not look which way to orient the usb plug and used brute force. It will need to go back to Garmin for repair unless you are or know of an excellent solderer as the conenctions are minute. The case needs a TORX 6 screwdriver.

You should use MapSource provided by Garmin. It works, I use it.

Page 44 of the Garmin 750 owners manual says there are three ways to charge:
auto power cord (which you have)
usb
optional ac power cable

You might get more/better answers if you post this ??? under the 750 product heading rather than i3.

My instinct is it would be cheapest to buy a "broken screen" model off eBay and tear the mobo out of it.

Or just buy a refurb; mine was $80 with current maps (current at that time) installed.

That is probably the case. In most scenarios you have to purchase another lock to add or upgrade maps.

You could start playing with OpenStreetMaps.org data and see if it meets your needs.

Garmin allows you one free update for your maps as long as you do it within 60 days of your day of purchase. You have to download it with your computer and then use the USB cable that should have come with your receiver to transfer the update to your GPS. After the initial free update the charge is $100.00 per year or $200.00 for lifetime updates.

Unfortunately, even if you perform master reset on Garmin GPS unit, it does not reset Garmin Lock security feature, which password-protect most Garmin electronic devices to deter theft. If you forget the PIN or password unlock code to unlock the Garmin unit, the best solution is to bring it to Garmin to get unlocked. “Secure Location” does not unlock a locked Garmin unit either as it’s only a temporary fix as when it’s turn on outside the security location, the device is locked again."
So unfortunately, there is only one option: You have to send your nüvi into the Garmin, who can unlock it. Remember original receipt.

Press arrow, wheel, Power, in that order and hold down

this is a simple fix, just go on to languge in settings and select a different voice let it process and you'll hear the new voice.
Then all you do is go back to the original voice and select that it will re-process and work.

Are you after the driver cd ? If so i have one and can copy and send it to you

i had the same problem with a garmin nuvi.i had to you use the reset switch on the back . lost some saved info but it worked after that no problem.

This can resolve transient GPS problems.

Failing that update the firmware.

same thing happened to me. what you need is called the USB PLUG. i bought 5 of them from a place called DIGIKEY (www.digikey.com) and here is a link straight to the page you need (http://search.digikey.com/scripts/DkSearch/dksus.dll?Detail&name=WM17118-ND)

Have the firmware reprogrammed to the nearest garmin service center.
