Where can i get a new screen for my 305 edge

Hi Gary,Your best bet on this would be to allow Garmin to handle it. These devices are so small and require steady hands and precision tools to perform the repair work. I checked out Garmin's site for "Out of Warranty" repair rates (even if under warranty - it wouldn't covered for the kind of accident it suffered), and the good news is: for just $79, it will be either be repaired or replaced with a factory "Newly-Overhauled" 305 GPS. It will also be updated with the latest software and come with a 90 day warranty. You can arrange for this repair completely online by following the instructions on this page: http://www8.garmin.com/support/outofwarranty.htmlI hope this helps & good luck!

Garmin Edge 305 won't acquire satellite signals

I had the same problem. With unit off, press upper left corner of screen firmly and hold while using another finger to press the "power" button. This will cause device to boot up in the "maintenance mode". I usually hold screen pressure until I see satellite icons appear. This may not be necessary.

Acquiring satellittes function is not working

This will sound absurd, but I have had 100% success with the following "fix" for 3 months now: drop the unit on a table from a height of 10 to 12 inches and then power up. It acquires every time! I have reloaded firmware, reset, everything and this problem persists. I do not get satellites about 9 out of 10 times I power up. Then I drop it and try again and I always get them. I think it's a cracked circuit board? I waited 3 months before posting this to rule out coincidence. If this method is a coincidence, then it is an amazing one that repeats over and over again!

Garmin Edge 305 - Uncommanded Power Down

I moved the battery wires to the main board, bypassing the spring contacts. No doubt my warranty is voided but at least the thing works now.

Garmin edge 305 will not turn on

Hello there,
First thing to check for is the battery of the device. If it is bad, it will not turn on the edge. Try to use a friends battery to see if it will turn on. if it does, then it means the battery is what you need to replace.
But if it is not the battery, then you need to check the charger of the edge if it is still okay, then you need to check the connection port on the edge.
It is definitely not a software problem because if it was it, then the device will turn on but will not get pass the garmin nuvi page.
Would be glad to know if the information was of help to you. Goodluck Elect_Comp

Garmin Edge 305/GSC10 Cadence and speed sensor

Had the same problem. Here is how I fixed it.
1. Changed the battery in the cadence sensor. (GSC10)
2. Turned on my garmin 305 edge outside to acquire satellites (probably not nec but did it anyway)
3. Pressed reset on the GSC10, saw red/green flash (what order?)
4. Here's the missing step: On the Edge unit, go to SYSTEM.
5. Scroll to bottom, choose ACCESSORIES.
6. On acc. page, go to bottom, under Cadence Sensor, to the option RESTART SCAN. Press That. Now your cadence and speed should work.

My Edge 305s GPS is not working. Everything else

Edge 205 or 305 often crash, then impossible to power on again.

Here is the way to reset the Garmin edge :

Soft reset : hold mode and lap/reset buttons for 10 seconds
Hard reset : device should be powered down, hold start and mode buttons for 3 seconds then pulse press the lap/reset button.

After soft reset, you need to hold start button for up to 10 secs before it starts.

After hard reset, you will loose all your data, including profiles

Hard reset is not very easy, so follow carefully instructions above.

Now simple advice, did you check in your parameters that the GPS transceiver is turned on ?
There is a mode with GPS off, don't ask why ...
Refer to your manual to find the menu.

Just to be sure ...

Now if this does not work, you should check battery. Does the device charge when plugged on PC ?
If it does not, either battery is out of order or the contacts inside the device re broken. This may happen if device is used in continuous vibrating environment like mountain bike.

Changing battery or fixing contacts issue is explained there :

Garmin Edge 305 switches off

Could be yes. There are contacts inside the device that become sensitive to vibrations after a while.

I have seen on Internet that it may also be due to USB plug that acts on these contacts.
Anyway in this situation there is no other way than opening the devices and soldering contacts or adding wires to replace these contacts.

As opening device is not at all easy, I recommend you send your device to Garmin support.

Otherwise please check the relevant procedure on the internet

Edge 305 giving inconsistent and

Same for me very often.
I think this is due to starting a road without waiting long enough that sattelites are acquired.

In fact 3 sattellites allow to compute position, 4 are necessary to compute position plus altitude.

Accuracy of position and altitude is much better from 5 sattellites acquired.

So I advise to start your device OUTDOORS, in an open place (not near walls as it masks sattellites) and wait until screen automatically moves to run mode, meaning enough sattellites are acquired.
You will get better chances to have a good accuracy.

Also on Garmin connect site, when you load your ride, you can correct altitudes automatically using real maps.
