System missing
Well, for the 2730 which is basically the same, you turn off the unit, hold down the FIND key and turn it on. Hold for about 5 seconds and release. It should reset the unit.

System Missing
The system is on a chip that can't be erased or reprogrammed. But a HARD reset may solve your issue. What model is it?

Unlock Code
When updating the maps, you need to be registered with Garmin. All the numbers came with the unit. If you turn over your Garmin 2720, there will be a number flanked by "*". That is your unit ID. When you register, you must provide that ID. From the site, you can update your maps and you shouldn't need the 25digit key. It's programmed into your unit.

Do you use the plug in adapter with the speaker in the plug?
Check it, there is a small volume wheel on it, probably sent it to zero whilst unplugging or plugging it....also check if the power plug is fully seated in the GPS

I don't think you can change the base map, you can however add maps, maybe the UK will fit in what's left. You will need the Europe DVD to do that with an unlock key.

Restarting while in use
Mine just started doing the same thing. I took apart the speaker power cord, but don't see anything wrong with it. I thought I saw the unit turn off/on one time when I moved the cigarette plug back and forth, but as I said the wires are fine. I have the power cord apart right now and have 12 volts hooked up to the wires directly and the unit has been sitting here for 30 minutes without resetting.

Clock doesn't update
Ensure you have the latest software....7.10
Also, hold down the menu and map button when you power it up for 15 seconds or so.
Make sure you have a clear view of the sky....let it sit for 20 min.
Answer the questions on the screen and try again.
Note: doing the above will cause the unit to lose all your favorites, recent finds etc., so do a back up.

Gps 2720
I tried another power cord and that was not the problem. I did do a firmwre update and that corrected the unit. It has been working well for the past 3 weeks. You should go to the Garmin website and download the latest FIRMWARE update.

Repair Problem
HI Otis,
I repair LCD Screens in Playstation Portables all the time. If I can find a replacement case for your garmin I know I can do it. Give me a little time to locate what you need as far as parts. Do you need a LCD screen or just a case or both? www.playstationclinic.com
