The unit only requires .5 Cubic feet of volume for the enclosure. It would be best to figure out how much space you have to work with and then make a box to fit that space. If not measure the whole front of the speaker across the face. Allow 1/2 to one inch on either side. Lets say it is 12 inches. You need 14 to mount it easily, you can use less though. So you now know that your box has to be 14x14 length and width. Measure the distance from the magnet to the edge of the rim of the front. Lets say 5 inches, you now have 14x14x5. That comes to 980 cubic inches. To convert to feet you divide 980 by 1728 which is .56 cubic feet and that would be enough.. Measure (inside area, not the outside), make sure there is clearance for the magnet on the back so it is not touching the bottom of the box you need.

Sorry but it sounds like the subwoofer voice coil has shorted, you will need to replace the sub.

Your grounding the amplifier chassis, isolate the amp from the car and make sure the remote is not going to the power antena or illumination wires on the bavk of your head unit, remote wire/amp , or eq , sounds like a grounding a power wire..
