Oh my god i had this problem with an old apple G4 desktop. Mine used to belong to a chinese girl. You could try and change it in settings, but basically i had to factory reset my G4. Do a web search for your sony and see how to reset a Vaio, or if you have the xp install disk, you can reinstall the program again like new. Sounds hard but really after you decide which repair/restore program you want to use, then all you have to do is follow the on line instructions. They usually show you one step at a time. Either wait a day with no power (and the battery removed) or short across the leads to the battery connection (with no power and the battery removed.).

Very often with a camera that old with battery types that it uses there is a problem the contacts that must touch the battery when it is inserted. I use WD40 Contact Cleaner and have had good results, simply rubbing both the contacts in the camera and also the contacts on the battery. I am certain you have checked that the batteries are indeed fully charged. I am also guessing you have made certain the battery is installed correctly...many Sony cameras can have a battery installed "Upside-down". And I am curious if you have tried the USB charger.

You most likely don't have a DVD decoder program. Download something like VLC player and trying your DVD. http://www.videolan.org/vlc/ If this isn't your problem, please provide more details.

Go to devices in your control panel and see if your camera is showing. If not hit install device and it should detect the camera and install it. Also you could go to your "system" in control panel and scroll down to see if camera is installed. If so try the upgrade software button. Also go to your Sony laptop online and get all the latest upgrades for your laptop.

Uninstalling doesn't necessarily reset the profile settings. There are a few things to try. Ask Sony tech support and they will definately have the answer. Formatting your hard drive and reinstalling windows will definitely nerf the old settings. You can try revo uninstaller which does more software removal for a program than the uninstaller included does. You can also try to add a new user account in windows and that might change the saved settings.

Most of SMPS can be repaired by local technicians, if u have a local person available, get it repaired, else submit at service center & get it repaired done.

I would replace mouse and I would replace keyboard, to ensure that they are compatible. I would buy a combo kit on sale. In my onion a $100 mouse does not any better that a $10.00 mouse.
