Sony Vaio PCG 7D2L
Did you spill something on it? (the most common cause of this issue).
try cleaning it with dry cloth, compressed can of air, etc......NO WATER/CHEMICALS.
if that don't work, take it to a shop, or if it's still under warranty, get it repaired/replaced directly from SONY.

Sony Vaio VGN-CS115J
Do NOT open it..........I'm saying this because it AUTOMATICALLY voids your warranty!!!!!!!
Take it to a certified repair shop/store/dealer.......... ask them to open it and clean the dust out.
Or you can just try using a can of compressed air (found in electronics dpts/stores/computer shops,etc.....) and b low air through all vents and openings.

Laptop will not restart
Hi just to clarify have you tried pressing F8 and going to last known config? or does it shut down before that?
This sounds like you've managed to corrupt your mbr on your hard drive, although this is only a guess at the moment. On some laptops you have a choice at boot up to select restore, usually F10, If this is the case you can try this option and follow the on screen instructions, ensure you read everything carefully. Failing that you can boot with a Windows install disk. When loaded use the repair mode and log on to your windows partition, usually 1, and type fixboot..
Please be very careful using this option as you could lose everything. If in doubt Do Not Use...
I hope all this helps. Please let me know how you get on

Sony Vaio laptop fan is very loud and continously running
My pcg-k33 was very noisy (fan) so I vacuumed the fan opening with a powerful shop vac. This helped alot. I think that the CPU temperature triggers the fan so keeping the cooling system clean is important. As well, there are openings on the bottom for air so it is important to keep the unit on a surface that doesn't impede airflow (on your lap is a bad idea)

Delete key, dash key and six key does not work
Usually this is due to a hardware problem with the keyboard. 98% of the time by replacing the keyboard you'll fix the problem.
You could also try reinserting the data cable from the keyboard to the motherboard.
It can sometimes get a tiny tiny bit loose and cause problems like this.
Be VERY careful when you remove the plastic tab that holds the keyboard data cable in place. They are EXTREMELY easy to damage.
I know I've messed up plenty myself
:-P
Best of luck!

THE WINDOWS OF MY COMPUTER IS NOT OPERATION
Hey,
if your windows is not working you will need to use the windows installation disc or the recovery media that came with the computer when you purchased it.
if you don't have either you can take the laptop to a professional or someone who has the disk or borrow it from someone to reload the windows.
Let me know if you need anything else.
Thanks,
Ekse

I have a problem with keyboard volume control
These instructions are for Windows XP:
- The volume button, brightness key, and disc
eject button on some computers will not work if the HotKey Utility
application is not running.
- The Magnify button and the Fn keys will not function properly before the operating system has finished starting.
- The setting may not be saved if the ESC key is used to close the Fn display. Press the ENTER key or allow the Fn display to close automatically to save the setting.
- Click the Start button, then click Run .
- In the Run window, next to Open , type MSCONFIG .
- Press the ENTER key.
- In the System Configuration Utility window, click the Startup tab.
- On the Startup tab, under Startup Item , ensure that there is a check in the HKserv checkbox. NOTE: If HKserv is missing, reinstall the HotKey Utility application and the Sony Utilities Library.
- Click the OK button.
- In the System Configuration box, click the restart button.

Notebook crash
On sony notebooks there is a hidden restore partition. You can restore it, but that means erasing all your data. F10 is the key .you want to keep hitting on startup and the once it gets into the recovery console, choose to restore C:\ Drive, that will take it back to factory settings. Just read and you will be fine. If F10 does not work, you may need to get the restore discs for your PC, in which you will need to call sony and order them. 1-888-476-6972
is their tech support number, just let them know you need restore discs and they will take care of you.
