A wiring harness for the unit is most likely more than you would pay for a used unit at a pawn shop. Most sony receivers have the terminals labeled on the circuit board. If you are lucky, you can find a dead one at a stereo shop or repair shop near you. They didn't name them explode for nothing. Be careful.

One idea that comes to mind is,if I remmeber correctly, that model has a removeable faceplate, try this, remove the faceplate,take some denatured alcohol on a Q-tip,clean the electric contacts on the back of the faceplate and also on the front of the deck where they mate together repeatedly for about 4 to 6 times letting them dry between each time that you swab them clean, then replace the faceplate onto the deck being sure that you are seatting the faceplate completely and properly.
This has worked for me sometimes and sometimes not, its worth a try.

Try using a different audio auxiliary cable. Not all brand cables are compatible with the Apple products. I have an audio cable that works fine with my daughters iPhone but when connected to my HTC the head unit in my car won't recognize that anything is even connected. So try using a different device with that cord or try using a different audio cord all together. It could also be in the settings for your iPods audio output.

Make the audio only show the time no sound. Try pressing it off and then press a button not source. Then go through the settings by pressing the large round button there should be an option called aux a set that to on.

52wx4 is not the model number of the stereo...it is just purely stating the power that the stereo can handle...which is 52watts x 4...2 front speakers and 2 rear speakers...52watrs going to each

The funny sound your hearing is usually because of a bad grounding. basically whats happening is that your getting feedback from the engine. there are ways to fix this i'll give you the simply one first and if that dont work revert to the expert one..1.) replace the ground wire from the player and connect it directly to the battery ground terminal.or expertchange the ground cables from the alternator to the battery,change the engine ground cable as well.

yellow to yellow main power wire
red to red key wire
black to black ground
speaker wires are green purple for rear speakers and white and grey for front speakers solid wire color is power and black lines is ground
orange is dimmer switch you wont need it
blue wire is for power anntenna your car shouldn't have it and blue with white stripe is remote wire if you have an amp it will shut off your amp when hooked up any other wire unnessary for your car some head units need a anntenna adapter to work good luck. remember ground before anything and disconnect the battery so you don't blow the fuse

This is happeneing because the stereo does not have a battery power connections. The yellow wire is for a constant 12 volt connection. This connection is for the stereo's memory.

did you buy a factory radio connector to connect the old harness to the new radio wiring if not you can get one at wall mart for 20 dollars and it will be color coded

It sounds like you have scan turned on. Try turning scan off. There should be a button with scan or scn on it.

Disconnect all power to the unit for 5 minutes then re connect. This will re set the unit and should automaticly eject the stuck disc.

It sounds to me that the unit itself is bad. I know you don't want to hear that, but i had similar units do that to me, the ic chip in the back of the unit fails and it wont give me cd audio output. If you just bought it, take it back and get another one. Try disconnecting the rca's and antenna if you have them plugged in and try it like that.
