Kenwood KDC-X590 CD Player - Page 2 Questions & Answers
Reads TOC error when cd is in!
you can try cleaning the laser lens. if you can remove the deck from the dash, you can clean the lens with qtips and rubbing alcohol. be very gentle when cleaning the lens.
Problem with the Kenwood KDC-X590
Hi, the problem is inside the main unit. I have fixed hundreds of these radios over the years.
The solder on these resistors get heat stressed and stop conducting properly. They just need a tiny little touch of solder.
With the radio in front of you and the face is facing you, take the top off and remove the CD mech. The CD mech can just be set over to the left a little and the ribbon cable to it can stay connected. Just move it out of the way gently. You will see a series of resistors in the right front corner area of the main board on top. They have 2R7 printed on them and there are quiite a few, all in that main area. Just resolder them and put it all back together again and the display will work normal.
Display screen not working
Sounds like you might have a bad connection where the faceplate connects to the unit, or the faceplate is bad.
Cant enter security
The unit cannot be used if you are not entering the correct security code and there is not a by-pass to the code.
Kdc-x590 display problem, are pics
Hi
Thanks for using FixYa. Some pictures are available for the PCB view of your Kenwood KDC-X590, however you should have a very small bit available to solder the resistor. Moreover these resistors are very small and only Kenwood authorised service tech have these available with them.
Please look at these pictures for details--

Click on the above pictures to zoom them.
Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or else revert for further assistance.
Thanks

This deck is in protect mode
This is what the owners manual says about Protect mode......
The speaker wire has a short-circuit or touches the chassis of the vehicle, and then the protegtion function is activated. Wire or insulate the speaker cable properly and press the reset button.
Similar problem, does anyone have pictures?
what are you trying to fix on this deck? if it is no illumination, there are a series of surface mount resistors on the right side of the deck as it is facing you. you need to resolder these resistors.
Display on Kenwood Out
I am not sure exactly what solution you are reffering to, but the KDC-MP532U has a problem with the display going out that is the result of heat stressed solder on the main board. The surface mount resistors that are located on the right side near the front of the unit, as you look into it with the display facing you, are the culprits. This is common in about 3 or 4 Kenwood models. These surface mount resistors are on the top of the board, so the board doesn't need to be taken out to fix it. Just the CD mech does. The surface mount resistors just need the solder reflowed, an easy enough job if you know how to solder. They are all lined up connected to each other, I don't remember the reference numbers, but if you can recognize what a surface mount resistor looks like, you should be able to find them very easy.
Thanks for the compliment on the other post, it is appreciated. A good rating would also be appreciated.
Thanks and good luck,
Dave
This deck is in protect mode
A couple things may cause this:
If a speaker wire shorted out (either a voice coil or the wire itself is grounded; touches the vehicles chassis ground)
Solution: disconnect each speaker from the deck and see if it turns back on. 90% of the time thats the problem.
It could be overheating.

They dont work with classic ipod for direct ipod connection, also try updateing the firmware in your ipod this is a common problem, deck looks sweet tho eh?
Powered Subwoofer won't work
This problem has many causes... but try this one... often when a faulty subwoofer speaker is to blame this test will tell you. Connect another speaker(any speaker) temp to check if there is audio still to the sub. Keep the levels down to ensure you dont go on a trail of destruction.
The spider wires from terminals on the speaker to the cone may be intermittent. I have seen this a lot on all types and makes of subwoofer driver!! This a common failure and can often be detected by tapping the speaker cone when it does the cut out thing. If it starts up, and they often do..., then you probably have intermittent spider wiring to the cone. A GOOD “Hi Fi speaker repair dood” can help here and replace the spider wires for you and save the expense of replacing the driver.
This is just one solution to the problem you are having.... there are many more..... and you should try this FixYa and see what happens. If you cant tell WTF then hit me back up here again. I work WITH YOU, to get the problem out for you.
If it sorted what you suspected... then rate me !FixYa!!.... Thanx
