My head unit does not
It sounds like you are shorting out something and the head unit is going into a protective mode to ensure that nothing internally can be shorted out. Most head units have this feature and you can test it by connecting two speaker wires together while the unit is on. It should shutoff for the duration it is shorted out but then turn back on once the short is removed.
Try removing what you did originally to the subwoofer and see if it turns on. I'm not sure how you have your car wired but it sounds like these leads were already in the trunk. Check for any short to ground (such as metal on an open insulation) or a short to each wire.

Need to reset the code on my Kenwood deck.
you should try the defaults 0000,0123,1234. in most cases unless you or the original owner put in the security code. Worse case it will just keep turning off till you get it right.

It turns off when in high volume
a few things...your speakers may not be a perfect match for the unit.
at high volume where the radio starts to distort there is an internal protection circuit that protects the radio...it's kicking in.
solution. Buy a power amp and take the load off of the radio.

Trying to wire up my cd player
Check for shorts in the speaker wiring. Clip one end of a mult-meter to the ground of the car chassis, then probe each speaker wire. Did you install it? What car, did you buy the wire harness for the car, or did you hard wire it? I know pretty much ALL american made wire colors by heart, and most foreign ones too. (Het, 51 years old and doing it sinc 1980!!! So, let me know if I can help further. If YOu installed it, it may be possible that the wiring is messed up. Hit me back.

Hi, there
I think that there is a code error in your device. You should take it to a Kenwood store and they will put a new code in it.
Good luck.

This car reciever is difficult
should be a blue wire to power the remote to the amp. Plug it into the amps remote hookup point and that should do it.
The same wire that is commonly used to power ant. owners.(makes the radio ant. go up and down per the radios on/off power status)

Flashing PROTECT
This is often caused by a problem with the speakers or speaker wiring. A speaker wire that's pinched behind the head unit will cause this problem if it's shorted to dash metal or the deck chassis.
The first thing to do is remove the head unit and inspect all the speaker wiring for bare spots or pinched spots. If everything looks okay, disconnect all four speakers from the deck and switch it on. If it still shows "protect" then you have a defective head unit. If not, then turn it off, re-connect one of the speakers, and turn it on again. Continue until you find the speaker output that puts the deck into protect mode.

Display
There is no easy fix for this problem, the radio must get looked at by a trained technician. The problem is an electrical one and there are a couple of things it could be.
You may have a regulator out on the main board of the radio, you may have a bad LCD display, may even be some broken solder joints on the display or on the main board. I have even seen some with a cracked display board being the cause.
If you know how to check voltages and have a multimeter let me know and I will tell you what components to check. You will also need a power supply to power the radio on your bench or table. You can not do this with the radio in the car.
let me know if you need more help.

Firstly check the power connections. Then if the unit has a fascia that turns around check the the flexible connector that connects the fascia to the main board is not snapped, you will need to look carefully as it may only be a hairline crack
