Hello, you can add freon by installing a piercing valve on the low side of the system. Before adding freon I would check and make sure the air filter and both coils are clean. If everything is clean then most likey the unit has a leak and is low on freon.
The availability of the part is solely in the domain of Fedders. So call up the dealerr close to your place or search for the support site of Fedders with the place of your residence.
Now the second part is that since you are an A/C tech , if the compressor is running for about 30-60 minutes , during this period of time if there is cooling according to the desired level, then you can bypass the relay to keep the A/C running. We are then left with the question of cuting off the compressor when the thermostat detects which can be checked in this control panel. If the detection of the thermostat feed into the mP is corect, then the Mp can be working erractic due to some wrong inputs. Here you can check and disable the timer .
I hope you must apply this logic to work if the compressor is cooling well.
The freon is most likely low,or out,this unit,works in oposite pump cycle to produce btu `s that produce the heat,threw the evaporator coils.If it is not the freon level.then the pump is not switching,and could be a diverter switch.I hope this is helpful,if so,please let us know,thank you.

How do I tell the age of a Fedders furnace or air conditioner from the serial number?
Although the Fedders brand is used for window units nowadays, this encoding only applies to when they manufactured unitary (split) systems years ago. The second letter of the serial number indicates the year of manufacture (from 1966 to 1977):
A = 1966 B = 1967 C = 1968
D = 1969 E = 1970 F = 1971
G = 1972 H = 1973 I = (not used)
J = 1974 K = 1975 L = 1976 M = 1977
An ancient Fedders unit we recently inspected had the serial number AH11877, indicating that it was manufactured in 1973. The home was built in 1973, which provided a secondary verification of the manufacture date indicated by the serial number
