My Haier dehumidifier #HD656E will not start up
Haier is a Chinese home electronics and domestic appliance manufacturer headquartered in the Qingdao district of the city of Shandong. The company makes a range of home dehumidifiers that are designed to reduce the amount of airborne moisture in a room. If you have problems getting your Haier dehumidifier to start, you can run through a few simple troubleshooting steps to try and resolve the problem.
Instructions
1.Verify that the dehumidifier is plugged in and the outlet is getting power. Make sure the dehumidifier is turned on. Plug in a lamp to test the power supply; if it does not light up, make sure the fuse or breaker has not been tripped.
2.Pull the water bucket from the front of the dehumidifier and empty its contents. The dehumidifier will stop working to prevent the bucket from overflowing. Replace the bucket and wait about three minutes before starting the dehumidifier again.
3. Make sure that air can circulate around the dehumidifier and that the filter is clean. Curtains, blinds and furniture can limit the amount of air going into the machine and cause it to stop. Place the dehumidifier away from any obstructions. Pull the filter from the back of the machine and clean it with a vacuum.
4.Unplug the dehumidifier and let it stand for a few minutes. Plug it back in and try switching it on again. This will allow the machine to reset itself.
5.Contact Haier for repairs. If these steps fail to solve the problem, you may need to repair or replace your dehumidifier. You may be entitled to free repair or replacement if your Haier appliance is within its warranty period.
Hope it helped

Bucket full sensor on but
Hello,
simply remove the drain pan or bucket, pour out the water in it if any and replace the drain pan or bucket back into the unit. The sensor full light should go off and the unit should turn on.
If the unit still doesn't turn off even after emptying the drain pan or bucket, remove the power cord from the wall. Leave the unit unplugged for about 1hour, then plug it back into the wall and it should turn on.
If the above doesn't work, please let me know for further directions/diagnosis.
Good luck.

Our bucket full light is
The reason the light cam of the first time was because the either the attached hose is clogged or the hose connection of the unit is clogged. When this happens, the bucket full light comes ON, because of the clog or the bucket was not reinstalled properly and didn't trip the bucket, safety removal, trigger switch. Be sure the bucket is reinstalled so the the Top and Bottom fit squarely into the bucket holder.
Hopefully, your husband can undo what he's already done, clear the clogs and the unit may run again, as it should.
Hope this helped you troubleshoot and solve the problem. Please let me know. Thanks.

A friend let us borrow
Kate, There are several basic things that can cuse the problem you seem to be having. At least you're doing the steamy bathroom test. You must have read one of my relies to someone else.Keep in mind, the lower the humidity extraction percentage or number, the more humidity it will take out of the air.
1. The air intake filter is dirty or clogged.
2. The humidity extraction level is set to HIGH. Lower it to 32%.
3. Obstructed
air flow around the unit. You must maintain a minimum of 12" clear air
space around the entire unit, while in operation.
4.
The ambient air temperature at floor level is between 40 & 60
degrees F. This is true in basement applications and the unit will not
function properly. Unless it's a Low Temperature unit. Placing it up off
the floor on a sturdy table or counter top that can adequately hold the
weight of the unit, plus a full bucket of water, usually solves that
problem.
Worse case scenario, the compressor needs to be recharged with refrigerant gas (R14). But, that doesn't happen that often.
Hope this helped you to troubleshoot and solve the problem. Please let me know. Thanks

Dehumidifier running but no water
If you brief description of the problem is correct, you need to turn the humidity/moisture extraction percentage down to 35% and check and clean the air intake filter. Maintain a minimum of one foot air space clearance around the entire dehumidifier and be sure that all exterior doors and windows are closed. DO NOT attempt to remove and clean the filter with the unit ON and plugged in to the wall outlet.
Hope this helps you troubleshoot and solve the problem. Please let me know. Thanks.

Plug it in turn it
Hi, Mindy! The following is an overall review of what causes the problem you listed.
If the room air is less than the set air, then there is no water in the
bucket, because there is almost no humidity in the air. If it is winter,
there is likely not enough humidity in the air to have water collect in
the bucket.
A dehumidifier will only pick up humidity out of warm air. If you are
running a dehumidifier in your basement in the winter, the room may be
damp, but too cold for the dehumidifier to pull out the humidity.
Try running the unit in the bathroom after having a hot shower without
the bathroom fan on. If working correctly the unit should draw water. In addition, if you set the humidity level you want to maintain higher the actual humidity level in the house or room, it won't pickup and collect any moisture. The fans on most of the dehumidifiers on the market today run almost constantly. They do this, so that the room air is always moving and if humidity is detected, it will extract it.
Hope this helps you understand how dehumidifiers function and what you can expect from them under given circumstances,. In fact, there may not be anything mechanically wrong with yours. But, to make sure, do what is suggested above to test the unit.
