FROM A CONDO IN FL WITH HEAT PUMP---I HAVE A

It's a little unusual to add a humidifier in Florida. The ambient humidity is usually high enough.

But anyway, if you want to do this and assuming you have central air with forced air heating, you could install the humdifier in a standard configuration, then use a sail switch or differential pressure switch in the supply air duct to turn the humidifier off or on when you are in the heating mode only. The sail or differential switch will ensure that the unit can't run unless air is moving and you can tie the humidistat in to the first heat stage.

I have an aire-ease 80tech/ultra5

Hi.

The limit switch is a thermostat located inside the unit. There should be two high limit, one located at combustion inlet, the other at the outlet. The high limit will open the circuit when the unit when through overheating. Once the limit is open, it should be replaced, as the unit will not heat anymore with switch open.

When the high limit is open, the unit will not heat anymore, as the limit switch is connected in line with the thermostat.

The limit switch can be tested reading Ohms at its terminals, or jumping its contacts. In your case one of them it is almost for sure open.

Replace the open limit switch to fix the problem.

Honeywell TruSteam Humidifier has a burnt out element

It sounds to me as though they have the market cornered on this unit. If it says the element is bad and they say they don't sell them, your only recourse is to but a new one. I think I would look into another brand, even though Honeywell are top of the line. It would seem to me if it says to replace it that it should be able to be replaced? I would call Honeywell myself and find out if I were you.

Mod#BLU100K948A The 2 selenoids on top of gas

The first thing to check would be the filters in the house to make sure they are clean, then check for any blockage. One easy way of seeing if the airflow is good, just put your hands in front of a vent and see how its blowing. Your furnace has what you would call sensors, and if they sense the air flow is inaccurate or to hot inside the unit, the unit will run, but not light. Also, if it tries to relight to many times, the furnace will go into lock out and you have to manually reset it by cutting the power to the furnace. Its kinda hard to diagnose these sometimes over the pc, but I hope it helps.

Furnace

I would guess from the info provided that you only have two wires going to your thermostat which would explain why the fan switch doesn't work on the thermostat. You can bypass the thermostat as a first step in troubleshooting. After that it depends on the type of furnace, standing pilot or electronic ignition...

Cant find old furnace filter

The furnace model is irrelevant. The important question is usually the dimensions of the opening for the filters. The most common sizes are 16"x25"x1", 20"x25"x1", 16x25x5, etcetera. There are exceptions such as specialty filters like electronic ones. I suggest using inexpensive pleated filters but you could just use filters that you cut to fit instead. Have a helpful gasfitter assist you if necessary.

I have a Honeywell Chronotherm III Thermostat and

It would appear to me that you have lost the 24 volt power supply to the thermostat. In referencing the manuals for this thermostat, available @ www.honeywell.com, I've found that when the thermostat is not connected to the wall plate (plate mounted on the wall, that the thermostat either snaps or screws into), it will display the -AC. This being said, either the thermostat is loose on the wall currently, or your 24 volt transformer has died. Hope this helps.

When I move the humidifier

Hi,
I would check the sail switch. That sounds like the problem.
If you have an electric meter check the voltage or Ohm our the switch with the fan off and see if the switch is still closed. If it is then replace it.
The other way to do it waould be to just unhook one of the wires and see if the water stops, that will tell you if it is the switch.
Really there is nothing else it could be though...unless there is a bad wire and it is short somewhere else, but that is pretty unlikely with a low voltage cicuit.

I hope that this will help you to solve your problem!

Thanks for using Fixya!!
