if it is taking to long to drain then this is a sign that something is plugging up the drain line.
remove the drain plug and clean the drain screen -- this will be right next to the pump body.
as soon as it is clear, the machine should be draining great.
if you are still having troubles after you clean the drain line -- then there could be a problem with the drain pump and it might need to be replaced,,,, but clean the line first as this is the most common problem.
Ive never worked on a Kenmore but it may just be the overflow outlet. All washing machines have an overflow which will dump water out from the top of the tub if it overfills but sometimes on high fill water level, clothes can splash around and cause a "wave" of water to splash out over the overflow outlet. Check to see if the leak only occurs when you have selected high level fill.
Remove the screws on the back of the top plate, slide the cover back and lift it iff. You should be able to reach down and manually unlock the door. Also, check the wire on the door look to be sure they are making good contact. If problem persist, replace the door lock. Here is the part to order. This issue usually occurs due to kinked drain pipe, clogged
drain filter or drain pump. First make sure that the drain is not clogged and
remove clogs if present. If no visible lint is present then remove the lower
front access panel to check the drain filter and drain pump for any clogs,
you'll need to clean the drain filter and drain pump completely. Hope this
