My zen vision m 30 gig only comes on when plugged into the mains

If the recharageable battery is more than 3 - 4 years old then the battery could be worn out.Rechargeable batteries have a finite number of charge and discharge cycles andwill lose their charge capacity over time, i.e. won't charge to 100% andgradually the charge reduces until the battery won't charge up at all. OR Thebattery shows a 100% charge but when the adapter is disconnected the batterydrops off to zero capacity in a very short time. If the battery drops to anunacceptable charge level then the battery needs to be replaced.

Describe your zen vision v0.0.15 Problem

My main problem is that I don't have one, unfortunately. It looks like a very nice unit, but I'm kinda strapped for cash, and can't afford it. I suppose if my answer is accepted, that would help.

Recovery mode

If you Zen player is frozen or not responding You can follow these steps to go to recovery mode:

Detach your player from the PC if it is connected, and turn off the player. If the player stops responding, you can reset the player. To reset the player, gently insert a thin object into the Reset hole located below the power switch. Press and hold the Play button while powering on your player. When the player displays the Creative logo, release the Play button.

It will display the following options:

Clean Up:
Scans the player and removes invalid links from its music library. Does not affect music files themselves.

Format (All):
It erases all content! Save a copy of your player's content before formatting.

Reload OS/ Firmware:
Erases your player's firmware. DO NOT select the Reload Firmware option unless you have access to a PC and you have downloaded the necessary firmware to install.

Reboot:
Reboots the device.

You can follow any of these steps or all of them one by one to restore your device.
Hope this helps..

Creative zen not reconised

What you might want to try is to connect the USB cable to the device and an open port on your PC and let it charge and see if after it has a full charge if you can power it on without having any other problem. Or if after it has a full charge if it is recognized by your PC as a connected device. If it has a full charge and recognized by your PC you should be able to use it without having any problem. Another solution is to download the updated firmware software, run the firmware update check your device and see if the display shows the Creative Labs logo if so you are in the clear and it should work without any other action needing to be taken on your behalf

Creative zen vision :m 30gb wont turn on

if you don't have the kind of charger that goes directly into the dock connector, the zen vision needs a 5V charger ( it happens to be compatible with the PSP charger). if you just plug it into a usb cord it will not charger. you may also need the little white adapter piece the goes into the dock connector. i know only one place that sells older creative zen accessories and repairs creative zen visions . if you have all of that: i assume you pressed the little reset button on the bottom, it may just be frozen? if that doesn't work and you are sure you're charging it right, your logic board is dead.

My USB port, no longer recognizes the Creative M, yet it charges it the same way?

If you can't connect through USB anymore (also no reaction on you computer and no sign of connecting on the screen of the player),
you are going to need a new logic board. I know only one place that repairs creative zen players and sells the parts besides ebay obviously. If you just want to get the music out you can stick the hard drive on an iPod video logic board (they are compatible) and use a utilty like sharepod to extract the music.
