Philips hdd 1635 mp3
Make sure that you are running Windows XP & Windows Media Player 10. If you have Media Player 11, you will need to uninstall it to roll back to version 10.
Reset the player by pressing [Vol+] & [POWER ON] until it shuts down.
Connect the player to the power outlet, and the PC.
Run the Philips Device Manager, and select the Repair / Restore option and follow the on-screen prompts.
NOTE: THIS WILL DELETE ALL CONTENT ON THE PLAYER.
If this still doesn't help, then it is likely that you have a faulty hard disk in the player.
These are a standard 6Gb Hitachi Microdrive, and are readily available.
Movies
Must use Arcsoft Media Converter to convert movies - it will not recognize every type of movie format.

Volume + and power at the same time is the rest method.
If your computer has Windows Media Player 11 on it, rollback to Windows Media Player 10 - this player does not work well with WMP 11 - might have been source of issue.

Shows "this device cannot start" when i plug in the device
My advice to you would be to go get a new media player that isn't a phillips product. The headache that the hdd 1630 caused me almost made me go insane. I spent countless hours on the phone with tech support. They even sent me a new 1630 that I had for 2 months when the same problems happened again.
This thing is nothing but a expensive paper weight.

There is a step left out of the repair instructions on the website/device manager itself:
Make sure you back up all songs on the GoGear before attempting this solution.
1) Back up all files on the GoGear
2) Open up Philips Device Manager (Start --> All Programs --> Philips)
3) Click on the Repair Tab, and look for a msg that says connect the player while holding the volume + button
4) Disconnect the GoGear from the computer and turn the GoGear off - hold in the volume + button and continue to hold it as you reconnect the GoGear to the computer; after holding the volume + button for up to 20 or 30 seconds, a window will open up saying that your device is being repaired (now you can let go of the volume + button); after the repair is successfully complete, your GoGear will be good as new
Now you can do the firmware upgrade that will prevent this problem from occuring in the future. Open up Philips Device Manager and click the Update tab. This problem was caused because most GoGear's were designed for Windows XP with Media Player 10 (which is no longer the latest standard).

Inovix media player
wrong product section, buddy - for best results, post in the correct product section
No FM Tuner Option
The FM radio feature did not come standard on all HDD1600 models - mostly they were on the European instead of the US variants - unfortunately, they did not consider this when they printed the manuals in Europe
oops
I can not install the philips device plug in , instalation CD is damaged
Apparently if you have windows media player upgraded to version 11, there are problems with some philips players. They suggest reverting to Windows media player 10 may solve the problem. You must be running windows xp for this player 's software to work - else win media player should do it fine.
here is a link to the manual for your player;

and here is the link to the drivers;

which you can download and update your pc.
Hope this helps :)

Well mate you'll need to start all over again, so what you'll have to do is format your player but dont forget to back up all your songs.
