All Songs wiped

This player is virtually obsolete - you may have a hardware problem which will require calling Philips to see if it is still in-warranty. Notice the warnings on Philips website that indicates that plugging this device into a computer running
Windows Vista or Windows Media Player 11.

Here is something you can try:

Triple Reset for Philips’ GoGear:

Disconnect the Go Gear from computer. Press the reset pinhole until the player turns off. Hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware Wizard. If this pop-up does not appear, reset the player again WHILE connected to the computer. Open the Philips Device Manager, and go to Repair Tab. Reset the player one more time while connected to computer. Follow the repair instructions.

After repair is complete, upgrade the firmware for this player. Will erase all the songs, but you should be good to go again.

Froze and stop working,no power

Ok, I got it. First, dont do what I did (if anyone would) and try to take it apart, big sacrifice, low payoff. I looked up the faq on this (hdd1630) and they said to hold the power button and the vol+ button for a couple seconds, and it worked. If this doesnt help, here is the link www.p4c.philips.com/cgi-bin/dcbint/faqlist?ctn=HDD1630/17&dct=FAQ&slg=AEN&scy=US -
very helpful.

Phillips Go Gear 6GB

The Phillips website has a solution for this:
Go to the FAQ for this mp3 player. It'll tell you to install the Device Manger which will repair the problem. I've done this, however, the Device Manager claims my mp3 Player is not connected.

Try this yourself, you might have better luck.

MY Philips HDD1630 MP3 MEMORY APPEARS FULL WHEN THERE ARE NO FILES ON IT

Go to my computer open the Philips icon till you get to the music file delete it. Unplug the player from the usb cable and then reattach it. It will then show a new music file and 5.7 space available. All of your music will be gone.........but it was gone anyway. Ideally you should go to Philips and download the HDD1630/17b software and firmware and print off the instructions and redo your player. I did and it works great!!!!!

Phillips 6gig mp 3 player problem

Depends. If your computer is running either Windows Vista or Windows Media Player 11, that player is history. If the reset worked, then you can update the firmware by using the Update function in the Philips Device Manager. The Philips Device Manager can be found at www.usasupport.philips.com
