My company has an Avaya

http://dstech1.com/changing-the-line-that-is-picked-up-when-you-lift-handset/

All releases of Partner
Lets say that you currently pick up line 1 to make an outgoing call, but you want to pick up your last line (in this case we will say we have 6 phone lines).
This feature is called "Auto line select"
To program Auto line select:
From extension 10 or 11:
Press feature 00
LEFT INTERCOM
LEFT INTERCOM
RIGHT INTERCOM
Enter the extension number of the extension you need changed.
press ** (start, star)
Then the order you want the lines to get picked up
Then ** (star, star) when done
When finished, press feature 00 to get out of programming.
So, in this example I would enter my extension number (22) and press ** (star, star) and press line 6, line 5, line 4, line 3, line 2, and line 1. Then I press ** (start, star) to signify that I am done programming Auto Line Select. And feature 00 to get out of programming.
Easy as pie.

The problem is probably not in your phone system it is probably in the Telephone company lines. If it is a scratchy static sound that is typical when the outside line get wet.

How do I check past caller ID on any of the lines?

You would already have to have it set up. So if you are sasking, then it is already too late.

It is alot of programming to explain in an open forum, I would call in a tech. Someone good should be able to do this in under an hour. (like a 1/2 hour)

If I turn off the ringer does this also turn off

Turning off the ringer won't affect the caller ID display. All that happens when you turn off the ringer is that the phone doesn't make noise any more. The ringing signal and caller ID information from the phone company still will reach the phone.

How do i use the

Wow. The Partner 18D phone has two buttons on the lower left of the faceplate in the middle of the phone that are seperate from the 5 rows of 4 buttons. Those are your 2 intercom buttons. If you press one of those and pick up the handset, you'll get intercom dial tone. Your extensions are numbered 10 to whatever. By default, dialing zero will ring extension 10 and you can see what extension called in the display.

We had a power outage, and the voice messaging

On most electronic devices where you program options, there is a reset button.

Unplug the phone, and if there is a base stand remove it.
Look for a small opening the size of pepper pod. You may need something to insert it and depress it for 30 FULL SECONDS.

Sometimes it is located under the front button removable lable.

Again, sometime jut recycling power does it.
