You should be able to get the pin outs and connector specifications from the HP website for that workstation model. Go to the service manual and it will have detailed information on what you need.
Sorry, How do I get into the bios to reset?
when you start the pc keep pressing delete. if that doesn't work look at the bottom of the screen and see what it says to press to enter set up.you'll have to be pretty quick. it's usually delete or F2 or one of the other F keys.
I just fixed the memory
This is probably a loose video car.
When you were fixing the RAM (probably remove it and then re-seat it), the video card may have come loose.
1. Turn off the PC and unplug it;
2. Touch something metallic to discharge static;
3. Unplug the monitor cable;
4. Open the case and carefully remove the video card.
5. Carefully but firmly replace the video card (most cards will snap when they fit back into place -- follow your video card manufacturer's instructions -- get these from the manufacturer's website.)
6. Plug everything back in and restart the PC.
You should get a good third party defrag program to keep your PC running at its best.
Fragmentation is basically broken-up pieces of files and free space randomly scattered all over your disk. The disk has to work a lot harder to save files in pieces and then to find them again and this really slows your computer down. It also wears out your disk, as the more the disk is used, the faster it wears out.
Basic defragmenting finds all the pieces of a file and puts them together, saving time.
Windows has a built-in defrag tool but it is very slow and you cannot use the PC while it is running (some users complain that it did not completely defrag their disks despite running all night).
Here is a Top 10 Reviews side-by-side comparison of the best defrag programs around:
http://disk-defragmenter-software-review.toptenreviews.com/
Select a program and install a free trial. The better defrag programs are automatic. The gold medal winner in the above review can defrag while you use the PC and it will also prevent fragmentation.
You can get a free trial for the gold medal winner via the review or at: http://www.diskeeper.com/defrag

Good luck to you!

Hi,
I am having a HP
You need a Windows XP installation disk and the product installation code.
When you boot up with the Windows installation CD, you will be given an option to delete the existing partition, Do this and then create a new partition, then do a NTSF format NOT a quick NTSF format then complete the installation.
After you install SP2 then install SP3, this is the latest service pack and corrects some bugs.
I have hp workstation xw4100 changed battery then
If as I suspect you changed the CMOS battery, then you will have to set up the system BIOS again to the "Default" configuration. You will have to initialize the Hard Drive, DVD, RAM, Boot Up sequence, all again. Do this and all should be OK. You access the CMOS usually by pressing DEL, or F10, at boot time. Check your manual for exact key.
I have a HP xw4100 that will not power up.
You may have a failed motherboard then. Failure of motherboards is usually due to breaking capacitors. A few years ago a capacitor company stole the "recipe" for making capacitors from another company and tried to make their own, unfortunately they did not get the ingredients right and the capacitors started breaking after 2-3 years of use. They sold these capacitors at very cheap prices and a lot of computer companies and power supply makers bought them. This is easy to diagnose. Look for capacitors (caps) (they look like little tiny soda cans) on your motherboard (mobo). They should be perfectly flat on top and not bulged or swelling or leaking anything. The dead giveaway is the fact that you are not getting anything after you changed the PSU. There are a few companies that will repair broken capacitor issues. Also if you add a bunch of extra components without upgrading the power supply you can suffer underpowered situations and that can cause internal parts to fail.
To eliminate some other stuff you could remove the memory and disconnect all the power plugs from the drives and then try to start it up. If it does not change the behavior at all (no beeps, no change in flashing lights) then you probably have motherboard issues. Make sure when disconnecting the memory chips (sticks) that you touch the metal on the inside of the case first to discharge static electricity. If it does change the behavior add 1 component or item back at a time to see what you can find out. Post back with what you find.
