There are 2 ways I can think of:1. Put a PCI TV / Video Card that has S-Video out in your computer. This can be connected directly to your TV if it has a S-Video (you can also buy S-Video to RCA/Video adapters if your flat screen doesn't have S-Video)2. Buy a PC to Video Converter (also know as VGA to Video converter). This is usually a smallish box that you connect to your PC via cable, then connect to your TV via cable.If you search the net for PCI Video / TV /Video capture cards and read the description for available functions or search for VGA to TV converters you should find what you are looking for.

Try turning on the monitor before the Compaq system box, if Win is doing what it should, it will 'find' a 'new device' and reinstall the drivers for it. It may not look right but you can change the resolution after it boots up.

clear cmos make sure drive is set right for master slave or cable select
restar computer go to setup and see if it is detecting drive if not set to automatic and reboot

Normaly when you get the error that the operating system cant be found, it is a indication that the hardrive has either gone bad, or somehow some of the system files got deleted. I would say though since the hard drive light wont come on it could be the hardrive has shut down completely. But you still should see the company image of your computer when you start it up, (the bios screen)

A bad hardrive would be my first guess, 2nd problem if its not your harddrive would be a new power supply.

Go into the BIOS by pressing F2 when you first turn on the laptop. In the main screen you should be able to change the time and date. After you do that save the changes and exit and go into windows and see if the date and time is current.

Appears that recovery disk #2 is bogus. U can try to get a new set from HP (fat chance!) or you can do a reload from a normal, retail OS disk.

If the fan making a smooth spin, but the noise is too loud, then it means the fan is trying to dissipate the heat. Probably the air inlet and or the air outlet (also the fan itself) is dirty (or clogged) and you need to clean it up using a canned air. You may need to open the case/body if the dust become a dust ball (and you need a tweezer and qtip to pickup the dust ball and clean up the fan blades).

try using a can of Air Duster on the bottom of CP57 where your fan is located to clean out the heatsink allowing your system to stay on and figure out the issue.

no proberly not,you should never do so.i understand you wan't to add moore memory (RAM)windows 32x can only handle max 4 GB.windows 64x 8-12 GB.invest in some new memory (RAM) that's best.

If you boot to safe mode is it the same? What proceeded this issue? Any damage? Updates? Overheating?
