Just because the light is on doesnt mean it has engough power to start all the components... Try opening the computer and unpluging the things you dont need to start the pc. ie cd rom drives, pci cards floppy drives, ect. If it boots than it is deff the power supply if not it may be either the power supply or motherborad or cpu!

Desktop with not turn on, green blinking light on back
Could have blown out your Power Supply to your PC. But I would at least try to unplug your PC and hit the power button to drain of any standing power, and then plug it back in and see if it will turn on. If not you probably at the very least blew out your power supply.

Flashing green light next to the power supply -_-
If the clicking sound is coming directly from the power supply, it could mean any number of things, including a faulty power supply.
If you can open the case cover, check inside for dust buildup. (Note: Make sure the computer is unplugged from the AC power source before doing this!) Try using canned air to blow dust buildup off any heat sinks and fan assemblies you see inside the computer, this includes the power supply as well. A good, general dusting of the backs of drives is also a good idea. Do not tilt or invert the canned air while you are using it, or propellant could be sprayed onto the components!
After cleaning out the PC, put the cover back on, plug the unit in and see if there's any improvement. If not, without testing individual components it would be difficult to troubleshoot your problem. A trained service technician's physical assessment would be a solid next step.

I have a DVD writer installed in my Compaq
Unfortunately most all computers shipped with a DVD burner installed do not come with actual DVD burning software. XP Home nor any XP format come with them built in either. I can only suggest you buy a burning program such as Roxio Creator 2009 or the like.
I hope that helps.

Same problem
I would try to replace the PSU and see if that makes your computer boot. Do like a guess and check. If its not the PSU, maybe try a new motherboard. Does the computer not boot, or does it beep when turned on? I hope this helps solve your problem

I have a compaq presario
The memory card reader on your computer may not be able to read memory cards over certain capacities (4 GB).
To use your higher capacity memory card without locking up the computer, do one of the following:
- If you are using the card in a camera or other device, you can attach the device to the computer using a USB or FireWire cable. When connected, most devices appear in Windows as a Removable Disk and can be used in the same way as the card reader.
- Purchase a USB memory card reading device that plugs into any open USB port. Make sure the USB device is capable of reading SDHC. These devices are fairly inexpensive and can be used in any computer that has a USB port.
If the card reader stops working after using Safely Remove Hardware, reset the cable connections and memory card firmware.
Memory card appears in My Computer but errors occur when writing or reading
If you are having problems reading and writing data to memory cards, use the following troubleshooting tips:
- Try a different memory card of the same type in the same slot. If the different memory card works, the card reader is good and the original memory card should be replaced.
- Some cards have a read/write security switch on the card. Make sure that switch is set to Write Enabled before attempting to write data to it.
- Make sure that the amount of data you attempted to store has not exceeded the capacity of the card.
- Inspect the ends of the memory cards for dirt or material closing a hole or spoiling a metal contact. Clean the contacts with a lint-free cloth and small amounts of isopropyl alcohol. Replace the memory card if necessary.
- Make sure the memory card is one of the supported types: CompactFlash (1, 2, and Microdrive), Memory Stick, MultiMedia, Secure Digital, or SmartMedia memory cards.
- Make sure the memory card is fully inserted into the slot.
Remove the memory card when the light is not flashing and shine a light into the empty slot. Are any small pins inside bent? Replace the memory card reader or have the computer serviced if a pin is touching another pin. Straighten slightly bent pins while the computer is off using the tip of a mechanical pencil.
- If errors persist replace the memory card.

Cd rom door
Somewher on the front of the CD drive there is a VERY small hole. Take a paper clip and insert it into this hole and gently push on the paper clip until you find that it depresses a bit. At the same time gently try closing the drawer.

Neither the helper or autorun works on dvd or cd
Read thru
this Microsoft help page on enabling/disabling autorun. If you need additional help or if their info is hard to decypher just give a shout.
The tech may have been accurate in his assessment, some spyware/malware can wreak serious havoc on both the registry and the system files of a Windows machine.
A great app for doing quick and accurate cleaning of malware is
Malware Bytes, it's worth the download just in case you ever need it...
