HP Pavilion a1220n (A1220NED904AA) PC Desktop - Answered Questions & Fixed issues
Had to change out my case when power button broke
You will have to look at the motherboard manual to find out where each cable needs to go. I assume you are referring to the power button, reset button etc. cabling. There are generally a set of pins on the motherboard that run next to each other and are for all of the button on the case and LEDs etc. In order to find out this information you need to get your exact motherboard model number and look for its manual online. it will tell you the details of each pin and where the cabling goes.

INSTALL A NEW HARDDRIVE TO MY HP PAVILION A1220N ERROR MESSAGE COMES UP BOOT MGR IS MISSING
You need to install an operating system like windows XP, Vista, Windows 7 or Linux OS. Your hard drive is blank now and needs programming. If you have a friend that can clone your old drive then they will be able to copy everything from your old drive as it was to your new one. Might need to contact a local computer technician to re-install windows for you if not sure. Also you need to consider the price of windows XP, Vista or 7 if you don't have a copy!! Good luck!!

Computer will not start up
Try jump starting it by shorting the power switch pins on the MB with a
flat head screwdriver. If it starts then check the power switch on the
case for loose connection. If it fails then replace the MB.

I want to upgrade CPU
Upgrading CPU is usually more complex than just upgrading memory or hard drive on the computer! If you really need to upgrade CPU which is located on mother board!

Do u have a graphics card in the pc? If you have then disconnect the video cable from that and connect the video cable with the default vga port of the motherboard and check. if there is no graphics card then the integrated graphics card of the motherboard is damaged. that means motherboard is needed to be replaced.

Open your computer casing and look for the ribbon cable attached to your hard disk drive and motherboard. Unplug the ribbon cable from the motherboard and hard disk drive. Then put it back again the cable and observe, if the problem is still the same. Next part is to unplug the ribbon cable from motherboard and hard disk drive and observe for the sound comes from your hard drive. Try also switching your ribbon cable into another IDE ports.Normal hard disk drive usually have a normal sound but the defective hard disk drive have a mechanical noisy sound. Have a good day.

Power supply has a continues
HP skimps on power supplies, using a supply that has only a small margin of excess power.
This causes the supplies to run under stress too often.
Make sure any replacement supply has the correct physical configuration for your system and replace it with one that is capable of 50% more power than the original rating; the cost difference is likely to be minimal and in any case lower than an 'original HP' unit of the same power rating that has now failed.
It is possible that a failed mother board or hard drive is causing your problem but you are risking well under $50 (for an ~400 watt supply) and will be getting a superior unit.
eBay is a good source and you can seek a replacement using the Pavilion series name and then checking for your particular model number.
