I woud guess it's the MoBo but can no way guarantee that without testing it myself as I have the equipment to do so.

if hard drive show in the bios setting and not loading the window then your hard drive not work properly.change your hard drive.

Your old BIOS may not see the new HD you may have to Find another computer to put that in (try a good friend or family) and copy out the files you want, Then try this, Go to the HD Manufacter site and ck the faq's on your system. Then ck to see if they offer a setup program that will set up your HD in the older system. This way if something goes wrong you have your files saved.

arrcos, the encryption causes alot of problems. And not all have that encryption, that is why it is random

shut it off let it sit for like 10 mins then plug everything back in then try it

a disk can be refinished fairly cheaply. In my area Blockbuster does it. Call your local computer shops and such im sure someone has a refinisher.

1.If the keyboard has a CD/DVD Eject key, press it. The Eject key is usually placed by the volume knob and is marked by a triangle pointing up with a line underneath.
2.Double-click My Computer .
3.Right-click the icon for the CD, CDRW, or DVD drive that is stuck, and then click Eject.
4.If the CD or DVD drive door button is a long clear plastic bar on the front of the PC, press firmly on the right side of bar. Some models have a button on the front panel of the PC to the right of the hinged door. Press the button to eject the drive.
5.If the drive door button is part of the PC case and is covering the actual drive door, open the door that is part of the PC case and press the Eject button on the faceplate of the drive.
6.Restart the PC and press the Eject button on the front of the drive when the first screen appears (before Windows launches). If the drive door opens this way but does not open in Windows, another software program is taking control of the CD driver. Try shutting down or configuring any software programs that create discs or monitor the CD or DVD drive.
7. If the door still does not open, do the following:
1.Close all programs and shut down the PC.
2.Unplug the power cord from the power outlet.
3.Look for the small hole on the faceplate of the CD or DVD drive. This is the manual release. The location of the manual release hole will vary (see Figures below for possible locations).
NOTE: On some models it may be necessary to remove the front panel to expose the manual release hole. Check the documentation that came with your PC for information about removing the front panel.

NOTE: On some models the release hole and the drive activity LED look similar and are about the same size. Do not force the paperclip into the hole if it does not go in. Make sure that the hole is not actually the LED.

4.Straighten the paperclip and insert it into the manual release hole until resistance is felt.
5.Once the resistance is felt, keep pushing the paper clip until the drawer opens a little.
6.Remove the paper clip and gently pull out the drawer until the disc is accessible.
7.Remove the CD and turn on the PC.
8.If the tray still does not open, do the following steps to check the power cable for the drive. Work on a hard flat surface over a non-carpeted floor:
WARNING: The edges of metal panels can cut skin. Be careful not to slide skin along any edge of the computer's interior metal.
CAUTION: This product contains components that are easily damaged by ElectroStatic Discharge (ESD). To reduce the chance of ESD damage, work over a non-carpeted floor, use a static dissipative work surface (like a conductive foam pad), and wear an ESD wrist strap that is connected to a grounded surface (like the metal frame of the PC).
1.Turn off the PC.
2.Unplug all power cords from the back of the PC.
3.Press and release the Power button on the front of the computer.
4.Remove the side panel.

5.locate the power cord that connects to the back of the CD or DVD tray that is having the problem.

6.Unplug the power cable and wait five seconds.
7. Find a different power cable that is not being used, plug the different power cable into the back of the drive, making sure that it fits firmly into the socket. If a different power cable is not available, replug the original power cable into the back of the drive, making sure that it fits firmly into the socket.
8.Replace the side panel and plug in the power cord.

9.Turn on the PC and press the eject button on the front of the drive.
If the optical drive does not have the manual eject feature and the CD tray will not open by using the steps in this document or if a disc has shattered inside the drive, the CD, CDRW, DVD drive may need to be replaced.

This should have been emailed to you or was on the web page when you purchased it. You can email the Mfg. or look up your order number on their web site. Caution: be very careful when runiing anything that may adjust the registry.

First you want to make sure the CD you are using is good. Try a different CD-ROM, a known good one. If a different CD-ROM is readable then the problem is with your CD media and not the CD-ROM Drive. If another known good CD does not work then the problem is with the drive.

To fix this you must purchase a new CD-ROM drive and install it. Newegg.com has great deals. If you only want to read CDs and are not interested in burning then you can get a name brand CD-ROM drive for around $15.00, but if you need to burn as well the CD+-RW will run you about $30.00.

If you are using Windows XP then it is pretty simple to install the new CD-ROM drive.

Thats what happened to me when my new RAM sticks weren't the type that my motherboard supports. Take your newley inserted ram stick out if you've put in any. I experienced that again when my bios failed to update. If you did try to update the bios of the motherboard and failed, contact the HP costomer support about how to fix it. If you've manually changed to bios for whatever reason, reset it back to the original state by changing the CMOS jumper position. To do that, refer to your computer's manual. ☺

This is a sure sign that the drive is faulty or the ide connection. Try a different ide connector from the other ide cable in your computer if you are able.

It depends what program you used to add it in the first place. Open the software and look for settings, or just uninstall it.

old PCs do that, for many reasons. but no PC told at all just HP. 40 years of PCs ,10000 + models nobody can guess ever. but I do have the answer, in pure generic form. did you buy the PC like that used and bad Wifi. ?

1. the wifi card is missing, as was super common 10+ years ago.
2. someone put in the wrong card, not from HP list
3. HP blacklists (bios blocks) none HP cards (wifi)
4. the card needs a driver to work if not it is dead or 1/2 dead.
5. the PC needs 1 more driver to make the wifi buttons all work , all buttons related, if not they are dead or act odd.
6. The OS is infected, no OS told at all, not one clue nor if upgraded the OS, and not vast drivers are wrong or missing, (classic)

Im sure this this is not the free w10 upgrade, if it was that too kills drivers dead, for sure HP told you this unstated PC will not run W10 and has zero support from HP, on w10 AS YOUR SUPPORT PAGE WILL DISCLOSE TO YOU AT HP.COM
