Ink cartridge error

Get a new magenta cart, but make sure you buy a genuine one, not a compatible. The chip on the cart in question may be faulty (approx 30% of compatibles can be faulty).

If the error does not go when a genuine cart is installed you may have a faulty main board or carriage.

I have an Epson R320 Printer.

This message indicates that your waste ink pads are full and require replacing. Replacement is costly, messy and requires the printer to be taken completely apart. Most often the counter has "jumped" to the end of life number, this especially happens where 3rd party or refilled inks have been used. If you believe this to be the case and there is no sign of ink leakage and the pads look fairly clean then you can just reset the counter using special software called the SSC utility. See these sites:
http://www.ssclg.com/epsone.shtml
http://inkjetprinterhelp.us/epsonSSC.html
More information about this issue and the "official" Epson resetter is available from the Epson web site, please read this link:
http://www.epson.com/cgi-bin/Store/support/InkPadsForm.jsp

Please take a moment to rate this solution. Thanks.

Jammed

First of all, look at the paper you pulled out - if it's in one piece, no corners missing, then the error isn't a paper jam thing. Now turn off the printer, push "stop", maintenace button and power button toghether, till a message appears. I also found the following tip that's also related to the same error, could be usefull: "As Epson printer users will know, waste ink from head cleaning etc. is channeled into absorbent pads in the base of the printer. Eventually these will fill up and need to be replaced, and some time before they actually fill the waste ink counter in the printer's firmware will signal an error and the machine won't print any more until the counter is reset. This normally requires a trip to the service depot (if the printer's worth the cost, and if it's realised that this is the problem -- lots of otherwise good printers go to the dump through this relatively minor problem.) The service depots have a program that can, among other things, reset this counter (but of course won't part with it -- there's money to be made, new pads to be sold...) There's a third-party utility available that can do this (look for sscserve.exe on the 'net -- carefully read the documentation and use it with great care...), but at the same time the pads need to be changed, otherwise you risk ink pooling in the base, sometimes finding its way out and making a right mess. Replacing the pads isn't for the faint-hearted, you have to virtually dismantle the printer to reach them. Here's how to get around it -- the two pictures below are almost self-explanatory: On the left rear of these printers is a small trapdoor held by a single screw. Remove it, look inside (down and to your left) and you'll see the waste ink tube. The tube is free at one end, and with a suitably curved piece of wire you can hook it and wangle the end out through the opening (you may dislodge a small piece of plastic in the process -- just put it back where it was, it's only a vibration damper.) At this point, you're almost there. All you need now is a suitable container for the waste ink, and to file a small slot in the trapdoor cover so you can put it back without pinching the tube (or you could just lave it off.) The container in the photo is a small square one with a snap-on lid, approx. 60mm square and holding about 150ml -- they're sold in sets of three for a few cents and are for making ice-blocks etc. in your freezer. Make a hole in the lid as shown (slightly larger than the tube to let air escape) insert the tube and forget about the internal pads forever. (I've used a new machine for the photos, don't expect the tube in yours to look so clean.)" Good luck

Epson stylus c68 paper jam

Hi Guest.

Turn your printer off and load a single sheet of paper. Move the rubber wheel to anywhere. Turn the printer on and watch what happens in the paper feed slot (in official Epson parlance this is the "automatic sheet feeder" or ASF). You should see the rubber wheel etc set into the correct start postion. Then press the paper feed button and watch again. The plastic "wall" behind the piece of paper should move forward, pushing the sheet into the rotating rubber wheel. This should feed the paper into the "ready to print position". If this doesn't happen, it means something has come adrift inside the paper feed system. To investigate this further requires the printer to be dismantled. Either take it to a technician, or if you want to have a go at doing this yourself, post a new comment to this effect and I will help you do this.

Why does the paper jam inside the printer

When it Jams, I like you to open the printer, does anything BLOCK the printers path, also are you using recyled paper or paper that has gone thru the Printer then re-used again ? Also is the carriage movig back and forth while it jams ?

General error listed

Unfortunately the R320 is like many Epson inkjets in that, once you start taking it apart you run the risk of knocking the main unit out of alignment and when/if that happens you need a service center to get it realigned.

Chances are there is still something trapped down the paper input tray as this is a favourite location for stuff to fall in (entire bowl of Pot Pourri was my favourite!! :) ) so perhaps a little careful examination of that area with a strong light and some long tweezers are in order.

Failing that you could try locating a service manual and try taking the back portion of the case off but as I said, be careful as you may just brick the printer.

Good luck and hope that helps somewhat.

Epson Stylus Photo R320

Turn off the power and look inside the machine to the right hand side. Just in front to f the print head you will see a white plastic dowel (see photo). Use something technical - like a finger, pen or screwdriver - to push this dowel in. You can then move the print head by hand to the middle of the carriage.

Once moved, turn the printer on and watch it travel back to the home position. If after returning home the dowel pops back out and does not retract itself, you will need to strip the machine out and rebuild the ASF section. Sounds hard but its just a few plastic parts to take apart and reassemble whilst looking to see if anything is broken.

Get a service manual; for the machine HERE if you need to strip it out.

Got new ink but light is still on that ink is out

Normal 0 This doesn’t help fix all printers because each situation is different and in most cases we don’t have enough information to determine the fix. So hope this will provide some help.

Could have a corrupt driver.
Disconnect the printer or at least be sure it is turned off. I'd do both and when the CD software program asks you to connect the printer to the USB port, do so and it should again work properly.
Hope this helps. Bud

Service needed

Hi Maruf,
This is usually because the waste ink pad is full. There is a software call SSC ver 4.20 which you can download from the internet. Use this to reset the waste ink counter. Note that if the waste ink pad is not replaced, resetting the counter could mean ink overflowing and leaking out of the printer onto your furniture.

Replace Printer Head or Replace Printer?

Why are they saying the head is dead when it went in for a faulty card reader? Get the machine back and follow my head cleaning instructions on previous posts. If it work, then you saved a bundle on a replacement machine. If it doesn't work, yoo lost nothing but a little time.

See my cleaning info HERE: http://www.fixya.com/support/t138226-printer_not_printing
