RX700 not printing anything
After two years of no use the ink is most likely dried up and plugging the print head, try this first before you replace the cartridges, soak the print head of all cart's. in hot water for 10 minutes and wipe dry, then try again, if that doesn't work you will need to try need cart's, buy reman ones they are cheap and if the printer is defective you won't be out so much money. I advise you based on my experiences that buying a used printer is risky, a new one is so cheap it is just not worth the risk of getting a DOA used printer. The last printer I bought came with a rebate for the entire price of the printer, and it is a Canon not a no name.

There are several options but the most practical one is to get a scanner that scans transparencies. They are not cheap but are the most effective. Another option is to project the slides onto a special screen and then photograph them with a digital camera. This can be done with 35 mm negatives as well and then they can be turned into positives with software.

Sadly the other solution is the usual corporate party line regarding "Parts at the end of their service life" and is intended to encourage printer owners to purchase new printers. The reality is quite different.. Epson printer are generally capable of upwards of 3 to 10 years or service with minimal care unless the printer is being hammered 24/7 with almost constant printing, which is very unlikely.Waste pads however are an achilles heel that do need some form of action to either replace or work-around to resolve. The options available are either:1. Go to a service centre where it is indeed prohibitively expensive to have the printer disassembled to replace the pads and have the waste counter reset.OR..2. Get an external waste ink kit to redirect any waste ink to an external tank (it doesn't remove the current pad contents) and obtain the relevant tool (either a compatible AdjProg service program) or WICReset tool with a key (one needed per reset) so you can reset the printers internal waste ink counter. The cost of the latter option is around 20-25(GPB) total (including shipping) so compared to the tooth sucking Epson Customer "Care" option it's not exactly rocket science as to which is more cost effective. Please ignore the rubbish about other parts being near the end of their service life... About the only other thing to note is that the printer gears might need a little grease but beyond that and flimsy plastic paper guides the printer can easily last 5 years with a little care.
My printer is coming up with a message saying ,
There is a page counter in your (and most all other) printer. At a predetermined point this message will appear and, in essence, instruct you that your printer is worn out and it should be replaced.
The reasoning behind this is not just to sell more printers. Printers can start "eating" expensive media, wasting expensive ink, etc., when in the end it would have been cheaper (in the long run) to have just replaced the printer as they are so cheap these days.
On some printers the counter can be reset, however I don't know about your specific model. If the printer still works fine, I would just ignore it and when the printer starts misbehaving (and it will,) replace it. They are not worth servicing.
Screen showed message that "parts
The message that you received indicates the ink pad absorbers are full and prevents the printer from running because unchecked it would leak ink everywhere including outside of the unit. To fix this you need to replace the pads with new ones and reset the counters to let machine know you have changed the pads. On top of that you must download a utility program for your model that will allow you to set up the counters so the printer will run. I strongly recommend replacing your printer especially when it is a refurbished item, even Epson feels it is better to replace.
End of service life error
This refers to the internal counter, actually located in the software on the computer
determing that your waste ink pads are likely saturated and need replacement. You can download software from either
Epson at
http://www.epson.com/cgi-bin/Store/support/InkPadsForm.jsp or at
http://www.ssclg.com/download/sscserve.exe. Both of these software packages will allow resetting the counter. However one should either take the printer in to an authorized
Epson or
independent printer service company or if comfortable with messing around inside computers and peripherals, one can check the waste ink pad(s). On the RX700 there is a small access panel, on the back of the unit, on the left hand side when facing the back of the RX700. It is held in place with a Phillips head screw and small plastic latch tab on its
bottom side. The pad material is clearly visible from here, with a pair of clear plastic waste ink tubes directed down into this waste ink
receptacle. If this is saturated, wet and discolored, it should be replaced, before resetting the counter. Not doing so risks the excess waste ink overflowing and making a mess and possibly even shorting out some of the circuitry.
