Split Unit Spitting water
Do you live in an area of high humidity? This could be your problem. The water that is coming off the evaporator and draining to the outside pan is building up and picked up by the condensor fan and consequently blown by the fan inside. If this is the problem the fix is to drill a hole in the pan to permit the water to drain from the pan. Be careful as to where the hole is drilled so as to not damage any component of the a/c. I would suggest at least a 1/4 inch drill bit be used to make the hole.

THE COMPRESSOR AND COOLING WORKS
I would say the fan motor is not working you will need to take the casing off and look to see if the wires to the motor are off, or if the motor is frozen/stuck(will not freely rotate) Tim

Unit Turns Off
Have you checked the breaker in the breaker box to see if it's tripped? Also check the amp rating on the air conditioner and the amp rating on the breaker the unit is plugged into, the breaker may be weak or not a high enough amps or rating for the unit it's trying to power.
