How to undo a cartridge jam?
Mostly, printer cartridge error occurs when the printer head is unable to identify the cartridge properly. And the basic reason behind this is that the cartridge is improperly attached. To reattach the cartridge, turn on the lid of the printer and then remove the cartridge from the printer head. Check the cartridge to make sure that there are no scratches or other damaged parts that can contribute to a printer cartridge error report. Take note that the cartridge should not be left open for more than 30 minutes; otherwise the ink will start to dry up and the cartridge will get clogged.
I am getting an error code 344 when trying to fax
-
The
remote machine failed to respond to a fax command from the local
machine because the connection was interrupted. These errors can occur
if the phone lines in the area to be faxed are old or there is noise
(static on the phone line). Other reasons can include power outages and
other power-related problems.
-
The call-waiting service can cause this error. The click, heard for an
incoming call, is actually a momentary disconnect of the line.
-
The remote user pressed the Stop key while the reception was in progress.
-
Under rare conditions, incompatibility between the two machines might cause the remote machine to abandon the call.
Solutions
-
Retryt the fax reception at a different time when telephone line
conditions have improved. Call the telephone provider if line conditions
fail to improve.
-
Disable
ECM. Errors might still occur, and might result in a degraded image
quality on the received page. However, the ability to send the entire
document will be improved.
Click here for instructions on enabling and disabling ECM
(c00060802) (in English).

Try sending at a lower transmission speed.

First, check your cartridges. HP cannot guarantee the quality of remanufactured or refilled cartridges.

Second,
make sure your paper is not causing the problem. Paper that does not
accept ink well can cause your images to smear or bleed. Plain paper is
not the best choice for high-density graphics.

.
-
If
the paper is not the problem and you are using genuine HP cartridges,
print a clean test to see if the printer and cartridges are functioning
properly. Load the printer with clean, plain, white paper and print a
clean test page. To see how to print a clean test page, see your
printer's User's Guide
, or see
HP Deskjet Printers - How To Print Internal Tests
, or
HP All-in-One Product Family - Printing Self-Test Reports
.
-
Evaluate
the clean test page. Different printers produce different pages, but
you should recognize elements from the examples below on your test page.
In general, cartridge and printer problems are indicated by streaks,
missing colors, or wrong colors.
-
Examples from a good printer and cartridges (your test page may not look exactly like this):
Figure 1: Solid colors that match color dots on cartridge label
Figure 2: Pattern unbroken, or broken in only a few places
If your test page looks more like the good examples above than the bad
examples shown in the next two sections below, the printer and
cartridges are probably not causing the problem.

Examples from a failing printer or cartridges - streaked or broken bars or lines
Figure 3: Fading, missing, or streaked bar - low-ink or empty cartridge, clogged nozzles, or electrical problems
Figure 4: Color completely missing (magenta bar missing below)
Figure 5: Lines broken randomly - clogged nozzles
Figure 6: Lines broken in pattern - dirty contacts or other electrical problems
Figure 7: Color completely missing (magenta pattern missing below)
If your test page looks like these examples, you probably have a
cartridge that is empty, has clogged nozzles, or dirty contacts.

Examples
from a failing printer or cartridges - colors do not match the color
dots on the cartridge label (Note: do not compare the test page colors
to the colors of the examples on this web page. Your monitor may not
display the colors properly).
If your test page looks like these examples, you probably have a cartridge in which the inks have mixed.

Incorrect color cartridge installed error
Hello imeekwe !
The printer read that the black cartridge is wrong according to your investigations, then the issue is between the ink cartridge and the printer scanner, so take out the black ink cartridge and do the followings, remove any type of materials that may cover the ink tank and make sure that he vent hole is clear, leave the cartridge out and do a reset on the printer by unplugging the printer from the wall, with the printer off press and hold # and 9, plug the power cord back to the wall outlet, when the display reset release both buttons, then put the ink back after doing the same to the color and cleaning the inside housing, then use the software for self cleaning and alignment..
Hp v40 error code keeps showing
After many many tries - I finally cleaned the "new" cartridge and sellotaped a piece of paper over the contact face (making sure the tape stopped before that surface) I then flooded the paper with pure alcohol and re-inserted into position several times. This obviously did a deeper cleaning job than the cotton bud method I have seen. The v40 is quite old so I guess there's no harm in trying just about anything..... There will be reduced cost in throwing it away..

Hello,
The line issue is caused by something on the image sensor. To get to it and clean it just pull the front up where you put the paper into it to scan. Inside you will find a glass strip, this is the image sensor. Use a paper towel dampened with window cleaner and gently scrubbing the glass strip, After cleaning the strip let it dry for a minute or teo before you close the cover and try a scan. It should be clear and should copy great again.
I hope this helps, if so please rate our solution.
