I have a HP 5550

Printer error code "49.4c02" is one of them. It occurs when there is corrupted data. This may confuse the printer, and it stops functioning. In other cases, the data is corrupted while being transferred to the printer. Some printer models are naturally prone to this error because of their driver, while others can display this error while printing a specific font. http://www.fixya.com/support/t6031482-hp_laser

It has paper jam some times on the begining of

1. 1
Switch off the printer and disconnect the power supply. Allow any residual charge to fade away before putting your hands or metal tools inside the chassis.
2. Step 2
Pin down the exact location of the jam. The three hot spots for a jam are the paper tray, anywhere between the feed tray and the print carriage, or between the print carriage and the output tray.
3. Step 3
Take off the front paper tray if the sheet got stuck while it was still in the front area of the printer. If the sheet jammed here, you should be able to see most of the paper.
4. Step 4
Pull on the sheet with both hands and steady pressure. Do not tug as you might rip the paper, leaving a chunk of it deeper in the machine.
5. Step 5
Open the back panel to reach paper jammed between the feed tray area and the print carriage of the all-in-one printer. Carefully remove the jammed paper from the machine.
6. Step 6
Use the carriage access door to reach a jam further inside the all-in-one printer. You may need to move the print carriage out of your way to clear the jam.
7. Step 7
Return any access panels to their closed and locked positions. Plug your printer back in and flip the power switch.

Printers

Your problem is going to be in the paper feed assembly. Remove the cartridges and look for a plate under the bottom cartridge. Remove the plate and I believe you'll find your problem. It's a pretty common place for hidden jams on the 5500/5550 printer.

If you still can't find it hit my user name and let me know you need more help so I can give you more assistance.

Hope that helps you.

You could try with different cartridge try to clean the contacts , check wether the cartridge is seated properly , make sure weather the strip is removed from the cartridge
OR
If you use a HP original cartridge, then you shouldn't have this message.

Anyway you can print, it's only at startup that this message appears.

My printer was printing just fine and now it is

Routine maintenance and keeping full ink tanks will prevent this problem, however if you have the problem you can resolve it by doing the following:
1. Clean your print head using denatured alcohol solvent which can be purchased from most hardware stores. If unavailable, use 91% Alcohol (isopropyl alcohol (first aid antiseptic) which is available for less than a dollar at most Walmart pharmacy departments.

*Warning: You may want to use a pair of latex exam gloves as this is a messy process and can stain your fingers.
Time necessary 45-50 minutes
Supplies needed:
Isopropyl Alcohol or denatured alcohol
paper towels
latex gloves
sink, bowls and or basin
can of compressed air
very small screw driver
tablespoon or baby bulb type syringe
warm water

PROCEDURE:
1. Lift print head from printer. It pulls out easily because it is held in with the same down lever that holds the cartridge in place.
2. Put two layers of paper towels in the bottom of a dish to protect sensitive sprayer heads.
3.Put enough solvent in dish to cover the screens on which the cartridges sit when in use.
4. Take the two small screws out that hold the white ceramic piece
5. Gently, pry the ceramic piece back and away , to reveal the underside (No need to pull away the glued points on the sides.)
6. Gently, move head up and down to slosh solvent around it the best as you can. Use a table spoon or syringe to pour solvent over all orifices in the print head, turning it upside down and then back a few times.
7. Use canned air with a plastic straw to blow into and through all orifices, alternately sloshing/swishing and pouring solvent over head (be careful not to touch any of the holes, screens, or sprayer heads with anything)
8. Empty dirty solvent from bowl and replace with paper towels and clean solvent. Soak for approx 10 minutes. Rinse again with clean solvent poured directly on all parts, letting solvent overrun and fall into dish or basin.
9. Gently shake the solvent off the head, take it outside and spray with compressed air into all orifices to clear out and help evaporate any remaining solvent. Let sit on a clean paper towel for approx 20 minutes. (There may be a little ink bleeding out of the head, but once it dries completely it does not present any problems.
10. Reinstall head, cartridges and it will print like a new printer.

SUGGESTION: For many years of problem free printing, keep a double set of ink cartridges, one set full at all times. Whenever a cartridge runs out of ink, replace it IMMEDIATELY, with a new one or a refilled one. This gives the print head no chance to dry out and create clogged heads. Routine maintenance of cleaning the heads every 24 months does wonders for keeping your printer in new condition.

Hope this helps. .

Network Printer Problem

In the later HP LaserJet printers the printer has a "Mopier mode" that will provide better print performance on multiple copies. However, if you have "Mopier mode" enabled and you don't have an EIO hard disk installed, you'll get the above message.

Right click on the printer, select "Properties". There should be a "Device Settings" tab. Under that tab, make sure that "Mopier mode" is Disabled at the bottom.

The unit will still print multiple collated copies with that disabled.

59.0 alternates with "turn off

Hi,
First it is happening because the scanner arm does not return all the way. If you power on and off the machine many times it will move the arm back about a half inch every time until it's all the way back and then it will work properly. If that does not help you might also want to check the scanner bulb.
Change new fluorescent lamp. I have encountered it before and solved by changing fluorescent lamp. But to change the lamp is a bit complicated job.

Thanks for contacting fixya.com
