Hi,
Ever since we have installed this printer it has issues printing multiple pages - usually 3 or more.
It prints a few pages and then stops with a message on the LCD screen 'page too complex'
Any other users have this problem?
Description
The device could not print the current page because of its complexity.
Recommended action
Press ENTER to clear the message.
Allow the device to finish the job, or press CANCEL to cancel the job.
Lower the USB speed on the product by turning off "High Speed USB". Following are instructions on how to do this from the Secondary Service Menu:
To access the Secondary Service Menu press the Menu button.
Now press the #2 button and use the < arrow to navigate to the High Speed USB selection.
Press Enter and then use the arrow key to go to Off and press Enter again.
Press the Cancel button twice to exit the Secondary Service Menu.

When I print a 2 sided brochure on my HP2840, the first page prints fine but then I put the brochures in the manual feeder to complete printing the other side and the machine requires me to press the enter "checkmark" button after each and every page. How can I avoid having to press a button after each page to complete the job?
This is the natural process for the you the user to make sure that you have the correct media in the manual feed. You can change this in the paper handling menu within the menu options set the tray 1 media type to plain and auto continue also correct paper size. You can also put the paper back into the main cassette and this will not cause the problem.
Thanks J

hp color laserjet 2840 will not scan, hp toolbox device will not work. Unistalled and reinstalled drivers 3 times via phone with HP printer tech support. Nothing works. Operating system is Windows Vista Home Premium connected to USB cable.
When using "c prompt" and typing "netstat -na" TCP ports 127.0.0.1:5225 were at first had a state of FIN_WAIT_2 or CLOSE_WAIT. Trying with tech support to open these ports the port is now totally absent when using "c prompt" and typing "netstat -na"

I need to change the IP address on my hp color laser jet 2840
coud you help me with that
Hi,
Most HP
printers can be reset to factory defaults (or cold-reset ) by
turning the printer off and holding down the Online or Go button
while turning the printer back on. The printer control panel display
should read "Cold Reset" or "Restoring Factory
Settings" or something like these lines. This will remove
any IP address that the printer had previously.
When you plug it in, your router should have assigned an ip address
automatically. Go into your router and look at the attached devices and
it will show you what ip address has been assigned to each device on
your network.
Use
Web Interface or Manually Assign an IP address
NOTE:
Network HP Printers allow you to manage them via Internet Explorer.
You can enter the IP address that the printer currently has
and access its configuration settings. This assumes that the web
interface hasn't been locked.
NOTE:
We recommend that you install the latest version of Sun's Java
software before trying these steps. See this How To: How
to Update Sun's Java 2 Runtime Environment Plug-in.
NOTE:
If the above steps do not allow you to assign the IP address via
the Wizard, you will need to do it through at the printer itself.
NOTE: There are 2 basics versions of the web interface. Type
1 is on newer printers. Type 2 is on older models
Type 2: Click the Administration button. Click the Configuration
tab.
Configuring
TCP/IP through the Front Control Panel
Note: For the complete printer user guide, go to the
HP
Printers Support & Troubleshooting page. Locate your
specific printer type and model. On its home page, under self-help
resources, click the manuals link. Download the printer's
User Guide (not the Getting Started Guide). Look for
steps to manually configure TCP/IP parameters from the printer
control panel.
IP address will be entered at the IP BYTE prompt
Subnet mask is entered at SM BYTE prompt
Gateway address is entered at GW BYTE prompt
Note: The syslog server IP address (LG BYTE 1=) and timeout
(TIMEOUT=) do not need configured.
Hope this helps

HAVE A 54.2 ERROR ON HP 2840
Hello
According to manual it means:
"Carousel rotation error: Replace the carousel drive motor or if the problem persists, replace the DC controller. It the error still persists, inspect or replace the engaging detection flag."
I think that you need to take it to service.
Best regards,
Zizzler

my hp color laserjet 2840 keep gave me error 79 ask to turn off then turn on I did it several time but it don't fix the problem. Please help me fix this problem.
79 Error Turn off then on The device has experienced an internal firmware error. Turn off the power by using the power switch, wait at least 30 seconds, and then turn on the power and wait for the device to initialize. If you have recently installed a memory DIMM in the device, turn off the device, remove the memory DIMM, reinstall the DIMM to verify that it is seated properly, and then turn on the device. If a surge protector is being used, remove it. Plug the device directly into the wall socket. Use the power switch to turn the device on. If the error persists, upgrade the firmware. See Updating or recovering the firmware code. If the error persists, replace the formatter.

Would like report of supplies from 2840 laserjet. How to get it to show report?
"Would like report of supplies from 2840 laserjet. How to get it to show report"
Select 'Menu" button, then select "Reports", then select "Supplies Report".
This will print the status of the four toner cartridges and the drum.
It doesn't make sense to reset toner cartridges UNLESS you refill them
first. On the HP 2840 each cartridge/drum contains a chip that measures
the life of the unit.
You can purchase toner/chip combinations online cheaper than new
cartridges. I also purchase drum chips to extend the use of my drum
until print quality actually starts to deteriorate.
I use both of these methods to save money on supplies - buy toner and
toner chips, buy drum chip to get full use of drum unit.
Hope this helps.

I have been using re-filled HP toners and now all of a sudden the printer wont work and gives me the error of non-HP supply in use. Can I bypass this? It will make copies but wont print or scan.
if you update drivers or used windows 8, HP make drivers check if cartridges are original, you have limit used of the printer, if you install original cartridges resolve you problem.
