My machine is acting up. It is over-baking the waffles on one side, and not baking them at all on the other.

have an appliance shop check it out but it appears that the connecting wire or the element in one side is failed probably cheaper to get a new unit.

I have a swb7re waffle

Hello, W/D here.
Not everyone will tell you this, but here's the best way. When you are finished with the waffle maker, the plates will be oily. That's good. Wipe down the outside of the appliance with mild soapy water, followed by clean water. Wipe down the plates with clean water only, just enough to remove any left over waffle material. Then, dry the plates with paper towels, or a soft cloth. You want to avoid detergent on the plates, as this strips the oil off which seasons the plates, making better waffles.
Best regards, --W/D--

I have a Star 49 popcorn machine, the kettle trips the breaker when attached, but if I detach it (no hinge connection, no metal to metal contact), it does not. Thoughts?

I would suspect that the heating element is shorted to ground, which machine provides.

Lights flickering

You could have a loose or a burned wire connection at the switches. If there is more than one thing not working correctly unplug the unit and check the black wire from the lead in cord. It goes to the switches and jumps from one switch to the next. That's where I would look first?
