Once downloaded, install and run the scanner. You could even burn a CD for personal use only.

You need the Scanner Driver and Epson Scan Utility; the one at the top of the page is for Windows 7
Scroll down for Vista & XP version.

Open Epson Scan and select Professional mode. Turn off the Auto Thumbnail option. Leave the target size As Original and then do a preview. Once the preveiw is complete in the preview windows draw a marquee around the area you want to scan and select scan.

I'm running Windows XP and have had similar problems - where the install process informs of a problem (at beginning of install) and to "Restart and try again".

Eventually resolved issue by selecting "Custom" install, then ticking all the selection boxes as had been automatically done in "Recommended" install - then continue with the install.

All sections of software now installed correctly.

I dont see any bulletins about this issue. You might have a corrupted CD.

Try downloading the software from Epsons website, and make sure you download for the correct operating system.

did you properly close the scanner lid? these type of errors do usually occur when you unproperly close the lid wherein light passes inside causing it to reflect on the document that you are trying to scan

try to uninstall and reinstall your printer software

This sounds like a driver hiccup to me , try removing the drivers and reboot your PC.
Reinstall the drivers remembering to select the connection correctly IE. LPT Port or USB. Reboot again before use.

If this is not the cure check the bulb, check the glass for cleanlinness , check to see that the bulb runs true snd not slanted IE. down further one side than the other.Also check the settings if possible IE contrast, brightness, etc.

The drivers that are compatible with windows 2000 works with win xp too.

If you want to get the epson scanner driver for the cx7800 that is compatible with win xp, please log on to support.epson.com. click on all in ones to the left of the page. Then click on flatbed under all in ones. Click on Epson Stylus cx7800 under 2.Then select your product to the right of the page. Click on Windows under drivers and downloads. Click on the 8th driver down which is the epson11577.exe, it says TWAIN Driver and EPSON Scan Utility v2.73A, then click on download now. click on thanks i prefer not to receive this information then click on the accept button. Click on direct link to the file then run the driver.

NOTE: make sure that the scanner is off and unplugged from your computer while you're downloading the drivers.
Do not forget to uninstall the drivers too before you install the new driver.
To uninstall driver:
- Click on start.
- go to control panel
- go to add or remove programs
- highlight epson scan then click on change remove and just go ahead and remove the driver.
- then restart your computer.
- download the driver once your computer is fully booted up.

Hi. Yours probably scans as soon as you have a document in and you double-click, right? I went through this. Double click on the Epson Icon. Make sure the mode preference at upper right is changed to professional. It may start scanning and you have to wait until it's finished to scan again. When you start in professional mode, it brings up a rectangular menu--you probably didn't see this one before (I didn't before changing to professional mode). Now press scan. This gives you a "file save" choice. Chose the location you want. Under the location choice is the Choose Document type option--this is the second key--save as PDF. Now it will bring up that add a page, edit or save file. Professional mode, save as PDF.

you need to clean of reflection glasses of lens so if you are handy on it then take off fron scanning glass and take out glasses and clean the out with clean cloths.
and put them back.
note: if you are not aware of it please do not mess up with them because it will be more annoying.
