No it has Integrated Audio.

The term Sound Card is a misnomer of sorts, that has been used by those who review computers, and those who have no idea of what they're talking about, and relay it to the general public.
Just like stating a Graphics Card.

Integrated Audio, or Integrated Graphics is not.

Sound driver software is present in your motherboard disk. It might not be installed. There's no need of a seperate disk for the sound driver. Just push in the motherboard disk and install the driver.

May have to disable any other sound card & make your compaq card your default sound card, may have to reinstall it also.

you need to look for the complete name off the soundcard and download the right driver from compaq homepage. Please vote!!!

compaq is one of the very bad laptop... they will not provide the driver cd for you...they will not have the driver files on their website too... you wont be able to find the drivers in google also... so search for the chipset drivers instead of searching for compaq drivers... the chipset would have been made by some other company, search with the chipset name... mostly compaq will use "CONEXANT audio chipset" all the best... comment me back for further queries i ll try from my end also...

1 Right click my computer.
2 Properties.
3 Hardware.
4 Device manager.
Check you have no yellow asterisks next to any of the sound,video and game controllers, if you have right click and uninstall. Reboot the system wizard should find new hardware and reinstall the driver correctly.
The computer may well be a Compaq but the sound card will be something else i.e., a sound blaster or something you need to know what card it is to get the correct driver.
If the sound has worked previously the computer should still have the correct driver in it and uninstalling and reinstalling should work.
Is the computer a laptop with a built in sound card or a workstation and you are trying to activate a sound card you have installed i.e., not the one built into the motherboard?
Compaq is normally a workstation not a laptop anyway let me know and I will try and advise you further.

Howdy, if it does not offer to install it automatically when you repower the machine, you can go into the control panel area and click on device manager to see if it is recognised as present by the computer, if it is, you can have it search for a new driver from right there, if it shows as needing one. This advice assumes, you are running some recent version of Windows. The software you are missing is usually in the default library of Windows. Hope this helps:

After reinstalling/installing an Operating System you can lose the Audio Drivers or sometimes they just corrupt.. Try reinstalling the Audio Drivers from the disk provide with your P.C./Laptop. If you no longer have the disk just visit the website of the makers of your P.C./Laptop or Motherboard and download the Audio Drivers from there, after that install them.
