Yes. Download the program "Everest" Here is a link:

Run it. Even the free trial should give you the information you are looking for. I use it so often, I just paid for the full version.

Hope this helps.

I have no sound coming out of my computer speakers.

Open control panel and go to sound and audio devices. Check Volume tab and make sure the "MUTE" isn't checked. You can also do this by clicking on the volume control in the bottom right side of task bar. It's a very bad idea to install software to check and see if your computer is functioning. Most of these programs are hoaxes and worse yet Malware. Stay away from the driver programs and windows repair programs.

If this fails, check that your speakers are plugged into the right jack on sound card, check your speakers by plugging them into another working computer.

We have no sound coming from our PC. There are

To check, click windows start button, point to computer, click manage, then look for device manager. If you see an exclamation or "x" mark on your audio device this means that your audio driver is not properly installed.

If audio no error marked sign and says that your audio driver is ok, uninstall it then re-install the audio driver.

I am getting the error that there is no sound device on my computer, but i have the Intel Audio device 82801 intalled on my Pavilion. How can this error be fixed?

You don't mention which pavilion you have, nor your operating system, both of which would help to narrow down the problem, but have a look at this search result list from the HP support site, which will have the most detailed information available for your system. (click here). or go here, enter your pavilion #, then search solutions for "sound problem"
Otherwise, there is a sound troubleshooter available for xp or vista at the MS help & how to. site that will help you determine the exact problem.
Usually this error can be sorted out by going to the device manager and checking the condition of the sound device, then updating or rolling back the device drivers for your sound card (or whatever hardware device is not working properly). Sometimes you have to uninstall and reinstall the device, in which case you'll need to have the drivers cd that came with the system, or download the drivers from HP. In either case, here is a link to an excellent tutorial for updating windows drivers.

I hope this information allows you to resolve this issue. If you need further assistance, please post back with a comment to this thread.
If I've managed to answer your question or solve a problem, please take just a moment to rate this post....thanks!

This should be a compatible driver for your soundcard (AC97), download and reinstall it.

Post your results here, especially if you are still in need of assistance.

Driver sound cards

You should be able to use the generic AC97 drivers available from Realtek. If the linked driver doesn't do the trick download the HD AC97 drivers and give those a try.

Post your results back here, especially if you are still in need of assistance or if you run into errors during the install.
