The headphone jack has a switch in it to disable the speakers when the headphones are plugged in. This switch has stopped functionong. Look in the jack eith a magnafying glass to see if there may be lint or some other object holding the switch open when the headphones are not plugged in. Otherwise it's time to replace the jack.

if your computer came with a motherboard disc the sound drivers could be on it
click start control panel administrive tools computer management device manager scroll to sound,video and game controllers you might see a yellow question exclamation mark? ! or a red X Right click to reinstall drivers:
click start control panel sounds and audio,volume,advanced,speakers make sure you have selected the
(((appropriate speakers))) also audio you will find 3 drop down lists make sure you have the correct settings there
also
click start control panel sounds and audio devices select advanced there might be a tick in the mute box untick it
if his does not fix the problem
click start control panel sounds and audio devices you can adjust the volume there also select speaker volume you can change your settings there you can also tick in the box place icon in taskbar for any further volume control settings you will need to right click on the volume icon system select adjust volume:

You need to download and install audio drivers for your PC or laptop, upon downloading make it sure that you are downloading the correct model in order to run the drivers and compatibility,.

If you go to the HP's website , you will find a Vista compatible audio driver where previous versions are also available . One of them will certainly fit :

the red x in the bottom toolbar means the drivers have been corrupted and need reinstalling

Its not the fault of the sound card, only the speakers are damaged. Contact the service providers to repair up the speakers of your laptop.

Please visit the main official site of www.hp.com ,there select support and drivers tab ,in that chose drivers option there u enter your laptop name and you will get all drivers and then reinstall the drivers it will solve your problem.

First right click my computer then click properties then hardware then device manager and expand the sound video and game controller and see if the driver is marked with yellow question mark or marked with red X then you will have to reload the drivers and if you dont see any audio drivers then switch of the computer press del and enter bios and enable the audio device

Hi..

When you are formatting the PC all the motherboard function are lost. Check first the software if it is already installed. You need to install the motherboard driver so that the sound, video graphics, USB, LAN card and other part of motherboard are functioning, Load you installer CD to the CD room and install.
After that it's bring you to restart to take effect and get functioning.
