Hello, My W50 Cybershot has a Flash error coming up after my wife accidently dropped it on vacation. When I have it on and shooting photos, it constantly has the E:91:01 error flashing on the screen. I have tried to initialize the camera and it always comes back after a few seconds. Thank you in advance for the help. L. Kansas.

I have a method to stop the E:91:01 error flashing on the screen.it were not solve the flash function but atleast you can use the camera without flash. 1)at setup do a initialize. 2)go to flash function to turn off the flash (must do it fast,b4 the E91:01 appear,if not you need to reset it again ) by now E91:01 will never appear.you can use it like normal,be sure not to turn on your flash again or go to night mode.if not you need to perform step 1 & 2 again.hope it help.

Access Probelm with DSC-W50 camera

I receive "access" error when I turn on my camera. The lens continually tries to open and close. This repeats until I get a message: to power off and restart again. I tried that many times with no success. I change my battery with no success. I changed my memory stick also without any success. I have tried to do a reset, however I cannot get access to any function keys to begin the reset function My daughter had same problem with her Cyber-shot several years ago too, but her camera was unfixable. Is there any way to diagnose this problem. I dont want to spend about $75 to have a Sony authorized dealer tell me that the camera is not fixable (of course the camera fell out of warranty about 5 or 6 months ago). I have also heard that this situation is fixable if you take the camera cover off. Is this true? Thanks.

I was having the exact same issue with my dsc-w55 and I followed the solution of another post from this site which was: "There is a problem internally with the lens. Likely, the focusing lens is jammed up. The lens will need to be disassembled and fixed, if possible, or replaced. Occasionally, a good "whack" in your hand can fix it. Just don't hit the lens, or lcd; or you can break them. Then there will be more damage." I gave it THREE good "whacks" in the palm of my hand, was careful not to hit the lens or LCD and VOILA! I just shot a few pics with my camera and so far so good. Good luck!

I have this Sony Cybershot camera. I recently inserted a Sony memory stick of 1 GB into it and when I turn on the camera, it gives "Format Error"

The camera works fine with Internal memory. Please advise on what to do.

i think this problem arises when you fail to regularly format the card ie. take lots of pictures and delete some and repeat the process over and over instead of downloading every session and formatting the card causing coruption. Also if you've bought pro duo memory stick off ebay poss. its a very good forgery (again i've been caught out by this).

I want to know how to fix my problem without spending any money. PLEASE HELP ME!

You may not believe this and I hope you haven't spent a lot of money fixing your problem. I read that some people had a different error message coming up on their Sony Cybershot DSC-W150's and in order to fix it, they literally banged the lens against their knee while the lens was out and it re-focused and the error message disappeared. I tried this while my camera was doing exactly what you described above AND IT WORKED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

After 2 or 3 firm blows, my LCD screen came up and focused. I can't believe it myself, but I was just desperate enough to try it and VOILA!
Good luck!!

sony cybershot problem- for use with compatible battery only

sony cybershot problem- as soon as i open tye camera, it displays "for use with compatible battery only" and then goes off.

Try clean contacts of camera for battery and contacts of the battery also, specially the middle one - it is for communication between camera and circuit inside the battery. If the problem persists, try use another battery in your camera, or your battery in other compatible product - you determine this way if the problem is inside the battery (I hope, it is cheaper) or inside the camera.
