Camera needs to be serviced. This is a common problem with sony cameras. If you have any knowledge of electronic, you could take apart and clean and lube lens. If not sony will fix for a fee, go to the sony web site, they offer a repair service. This happened to mine, it cost $95 plus shipping costs to repair. Now it works great, for how long who knows.

if the memory is in the camera you can only delete one picture at a time. You can always insert the memory stick into your home computer and delete everything. Any time you format your memory card everything on there is erased also. There is no provision in the w100 manual to format the memory card so you will probably need to do it on the computer.

The easy way to delete the entire memory card is you plug it in to the computer, then after it will be detected open it an delete all files

sounds drastic but grab lens and manually help the lens go in or out. if you hear a crunching noise the gears are stripped. not economical to repair. flat rate usually exceeds price of new cam.

remove macro mode off it

If it came with a software CD, install that and follow instructions.

If you have the cable that inputs the camera to the PC: after connecting it, click on My Computer. There will be a list of the drives you have, and the camera will be one of those drives. Open that and it will list your photos in folders which you can copy to your My Pictures directory. Sometimes a wizard will open so just follow its prompts to save your stuff.

in your situation you need aproper tools to fix it and enough knowledge about the sensitive parts of your camera.

i prefer to suggest to you that instead of doing it by yourself bring it to a service to avoid and prevent any additonal problem that may occur.

I found the answer on another thread in this site. You just need to lightly bang the camera with your hand and it gets back in focus. Pathetic and archaic, but effective. I used the two finger method like I was hitting a cigarette pack.

I think it would be dust particles on CCD Imager of camera. This is not common problem of Sony DSC-W100 cameras

CCD Imager can be cleaned if you can open camera. I will assist you to clean CCD Imager.
It would be fine if you post an image of camera showing problem. That will help to find solution.

after downloading install it to your system.

Insert memory card in camera, power it up and go to Menu>>Copy>>OK
That will copy internal memory pictures on to memory card.
