How do i clean the iris blades?

This is for Sanyo VPC-HD1, VPC-HD1A black screen problem how to clean auto iris unit.First you have take apart camera : remove 4 screws from right side (in battery compartment) 2 screws from bottom, 2 screws from top (there are different short one is from rear) and last screw from front, now pull left cabinet from top and take appart.Be carefull !!! there is flash capacitor you need to discharge it before doing anything else. You can discharge with  1Kom 5watt resistor . After that remove 1 screw holding speaker, disconnect and remove speaker. Now pull power board PW-1 there is a screw holding lense ring remove that screw, disconnect 2 connectors from lense assy (from ccd just pull, from lense unlock and pull flat cable now you can remove lens assy. Next remove 3 small screws holding heat sink (rear of lens assy) after that remove spacer (black tape from top of lense and another small tape at rear top of lense. Now you can see 7 white screws and 1 black screw remove all of them.Black screw holding iris unit. Now carefully lift zoom motor focus motor 2 sensors nd filter assy and iris unit they came out all together.Next thing main thing you have to open iris unit it is easy to do with sharp blade on the edge of iris unit you will find 2 locks holding  metall casing of iris unit put blade between metal and plastic case and pry to remove metall case. Now you will find iris 2 blades there are different you need to remember wich is wich. Now carefully remove both blades (they might stick to each other because of grease) and place them into isoprophyl alcohol after that put them on to napkin fold napkin so blades are inside and dry them you also need to clean iris unit where blades are going from grease and also clean zoom motor and focus motor shafts to remove grease. Now put everything back together and i hope you can do that. Good luck.

Black screen

I had this problem too. It's caused by grease on the iris curing (setting) and jamming it locked. The motor that opens the iris when you turn the camera on isn't powerful enough to overcome it, hence the black screen.

There's a tutorial online somewhere about how to fix it. But if you're like me and not that good at that sort of thing take it to a local camera repair shop and get them to fix it. Tell them what the problem is and that you need them to clean the iris blades. Emphasize you don't want them to grease them afterwards, just leave them dry and clean. The guy i took it to was very unsure when i told him all this but told me I was 100% right when i picked my camera up, and that cleaning the iris blades had fixed it.

It's been 4 months since I had it fixed/cleaned, and it's being working great every since.

PS. There's a strong suggestion Sanyo knew about this when they shipped it but shipped it anyway. It's not been proven one way or the other, but I personally will never buy a Sanyo product again.

Hi i have a sanyo hi 8 camcorder 25 plus years old and it loads and ejects and tape flashes continually whats the oroblem

It sounds like your Sanyo camcorder may be experiencing a problem with the loading or ejecting mechanism. This could be caused by a number of issues, including a damaged or broken cassette mechanism, a malfunctioning loading or ejecting motor, or a problem with the camcorder's control board. To troubleshoot the issue, you could try the following:
  1. Make sure the camcorder is clean and free of any debris or obstruction.
  2. Check the cassette for damage, such as broken or bent spindles, and make sure it is properly seated in the camcorder.
  3. Try using a different cassette to see if the problem persists.
  4. If the problem persists, you may need to have the camcorder repaired by a professional.
Keep in mind that due to the age of your camcorder, it may be more cost-effective to purchase a new one rather than repair the old one. However, if the camcorder has sentimental value or is no longer in production, repair may be the best option.

There is a pulley that breaks inside but as these have been obsolete for over 20 years, I doubt it is repairable any more. Fully working VM-D66p for £30 on amazon or fleabay.

Hello, I have a sanyo vm d66p camcorder and want to play it through a tv. What cables do I need ? thanks in advance

You need the RF Adapter cables. I have seen items like that at thrift stores. The camera has that barrel connector with 6? pins to connect it to the converter box that output to Channel 3-4. Keep checking ebay or craigslist. https://www.manualslib.com/manual/894346/Sanyo-Vm-D66p.html?page=2#manual https://www.ebay.com/itm/Sanyo-VM-D6P-8mm-Video-Camera-Bundle/163512488835?hash=item26121a9383:g:pLYAAOSwUMBb8MfJ:rk:1:pf:0

SANYO VIDIO CAMERA SHOWS "DEW" DAMP INDICATOR

Seldom have I seen these go on that it was a "false alarm" - usually there is some kind of dampness inside. Try setting the camera in a MILDLY warm place, opening up any doors/port covers it has. As for a sample of a mildly warm spot, I have used my cable box to dry things out before. It runs around 100 degrees F, not hot enough to damage anything. Note, of course: Never put anything dripping wet on something like that. And make sure you don't cover more than a small percentage of any vent holes on the item supplying the gentle warmth. The main thing is be PATIENT. Don't expect the problem to be solved in 5 minutes. Put it there in a gently warm spot and check on it in the morning. Once thoroughly dried out, it should stay that way with reasonable care.
