Cannot power on the monitor

If this is the power section you are testing it is important that the switch mode frequency is present from the SM drive IC. If not the SMPS will not work. The diode will test only in one direction and if there is no leak it must be OK.Please check this link for tips. http://www.fixya.com/support/r5826301-working_switch_mode_power_supplies

What happens when capacitor goes bad on flat

It depends on which section of the circuits the caps are in, in the power supply section for the logic and the backlight inverter circuits, you will get unstabel DC voltages, blinking indicator light, no backligts, etc.
Most common failures in the LCD monitors are bad capacitors (bulging top/seal or leaking) in the power supply (they should be replaced in a set), blown fuses; poor solder joints, failed inverter circuits (blown fuse, shorted transistors, shorted/open transformers), bad lamps (poor solder connections or worn out lamps). You will need to open it up and inspect the inside, see example of failed monitors to get some ideas what to look for: http://s807.photobucket.com/albums/yy352/budm/ Post back what you see inside so we can guide you further and it will help out other people in the future also.

The Inverter may be bad. This is the part that applies high voltage to illuminate the backlight for the LCD's CCFL. It momentarily lights up on your display because a capacitor cannot sustain the charge to keep the high voltage constant - thus you see it come on when you apply power and then go out.

Hi,

Since you have reinstalled your Operating system you will need to reinstall the Drivers for your Video card, sound card, Modem and other hardwares. You need to install drivers for each and every hardware in your computer. Windows has inbuilt drivers for most of the common hardwares like mouse keyboard modem etc. but for some specific hardwares like Sound card Graphic card, Network card etc. for which Windows cannot load the drivers on its own, we have to install them.
Driver is a set of program which helps your hardware to communicate with the Operating system (e.g: Windows).

For your Dell Monitor E153FP you can download the required drivers from the following site:

http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/download.aspx?releaseid=R76072&formatcnt=1&libid=0&fileid=99367

Hope this information is helpful to you.

Please do not forget to leave your comments and ratings.

Computer monitor

I have never tried that but I would say it won't work that way. I have 2 display cards (3 outputs each, VGA, DVI, TVout) and 3 monitors. When I check the driver software and multiple screen function, it shows only 2 output (VGA and DVI) each. I cannot set TV output as a second screen. Even display properties on windows, it shows only available monitor output. I don't think you can do that.
Thank you,

Screen goes blank

Hi, Either that or the power supply. IF it is the inverter board, again very strong possibilities with the capacitors. This time it is taking some time for them to charge. Same thing with the capacitors of the power supply. On some instances, it could be a cold solder or a loose connector that eventually connects good when warmed up. Your best bet is to have the LCD opened and checked/diagnosed. Good luck and kind regards.

Monitor

The circuit breaker popped due to power fluctuation or something else ? It is clearly understood that your LCD monitor suffered some component burn inside otherwise it would show 'NO SIGNAL' sort of Display if it is not connected. There is nothing to resset. Please open it up & check if there is any sign of burned component or take it to a service center if it is still under warrenty.

Monitor goes blank

Sounds like the back light inverter board is bad. It's a very common problem. LCD's use four small cold compact fluorescent bulbs to back light the display. (thats what gives the LCD it's brightness allowing you to see it) The inverter board runs these lights and when they go bad they will typically show symptoms like you have or the monitor power light comes on and you have either no display or a very dim display. If you ever have one that has no display but the power light is on you can check by shining a flashlight directly into the LCD from the front (right into the screen) if you can see an image then it's either the inverter board (most likely) or the CCFL bulbs have gone bad. The inverter board and CCFL's are replaceable. Good Luck, El Duderino
