Dell monitor 2005FPW keeps on flashing

I was having the same problem.
I solved it by replacing the two 47µF capacitors on the power supply/inverter board.
I actually removed all the capacitors (around 13) and all checked out fine except for the two 47µF.
I forgot to take pictures or even write down the capacitor label on the board.
They are located close to the logic board connector

Service manual and /or how to open up case on

Hi

to open the case, unscrew all the screws that you can find from the case, check under labels also, you may have to remove the stand.

The case will be held in place with plastic clips, run your finger on the edges or a flat screw driver to get them to pop open.

the caseing will open up.

that is how simple it is.

thats how it is on all the lcds out there that I've taken apart. Asus, viewsonic, fujitsu and dell.

Dell 2005FPW displays streaking vertical lines

The only way to repair this would be to have the LCD screen replaced in the monitor and more than likely you can buy a replacement monitor that is bigger for less than the cost of the LCD repair.

brady818, Yes! Getting it open is the hardest thing to do!!! You will need to view some video clips at youtube of "lcd monitor disassembly" and "lcd monitor repair" to see how others open their units. "PARTING" the rear cover from the front "bezel" can be a real hassel. Always work on a soft padded surface! Carpet, rug, blanket, bed. You must always protect the LCD PANEL at all costs!!!! Determine how to remove PEDESTAL first. Could be screws or push to release locking tabs!!! May need plastic credit card, very, very DULL "butter" or "table" knife and or screwdriver. Hint: Document your "tear-down" with digital stills of your progress so you can get it back together without "extra parts" laying around. 12fixlouie

Hi,
The problem may be a loose connection. There must be a loose connection on the power board which may be causing this. The easiest solution is to tap at the back of the monitor. This will reconnect the loose end and the monitor will work fine until it gets disconnected again.

Thanks for contacting fixya.com

Monitor has a red outline especially on pictures.

Probably there's an internal electronic part/s of your monitor that is cold sholdered or defective. I suggest to bring the unit to an authorized service center to properly diagnose & fix the problem. regards

Power cord for Dell Monitor 2005FPW

I got this from the website at Dell. It looks like the cord you want is the second one. I'm basing this on the fact that normal operating wattage is 55w with a max of 74w and that would describe your second cord. The first one wold provide too much power.

VESA Modes
Horizontal Sync
Vertical Sync
Video
Power Indicator
Power Consumption
Normal operation Active Active Active Green 74 W (maximum)*
55 W (normal)** Active-off mode Inactive Inactive Blanked Amber Less than 3 W Switch off - - - Off Less than 1 W(at 110 Va)

Blank monitor

Luckily I'm not in it for the money so here's your answer. (Sorry drumbanger.)
When it goes black, look at your power button. Is it still green? If so, the backlight display is bad. If the power light has turned orange, you're most likely looking at a power/inverter problem. Sadly, if you don't have another monitor that you can swap parts out with, you're looking at a new monitor. But with the economy on the downslide, replacements keep getting cheaper! Research online and you'll find some fantastic deals! Rate me if you find this helpful.

Dell 19" Monitor - Dead

Hi this is the way how to examine what's wrong with your LCD monitors. Power on both CPU and monitor. After it went blank, you have to check that you can see the image on the screen by shining a flashlight into the screen, not directly but find the best angle to the screen and take a look very closely. If you can see the icons or any image, there will be a minor problem. Like mine, I can see window image using flashlight and check lamps inside. Some of them were broken and it is very easy to replace. If you cannot see anything on the screen, there'll be some problems with inverter board. If you have soldering tool and want to fix it by yourself, check the caps first. It may cause this problem. Some caps might show leaking or burn spot on the board because of too high temp. If you don't have soldering tool, you better go get a technician to do so.
Thank you,
Tan
