LOw audio output!

Hello,

the problem is from a speaker fuse or the sound IC inside the device.

It needs to be replaced to get a output. Also connect your speaker with another device to be sure the speaker is not the cause of the problem.

Let me know what happens after you have tested the speaker.

I look forward to your reply, bye for now.

Other radio users r not

Could be your mic does not work. Usually CBs has paging capability, set its paging system on(check speaker set up). If your mic is OK, I suspect you don't have transmission at all. To check without having special instruments, have a PL259 connector and connect a few inches of RG8 or RG58 and connect a 12V lamp(cars signal light bulb can do) at the other end, then press your PTT button and bulb must glow and go brighter when you talk. If not glowing at all maybe your final amp is busted, have it checked by the expert. Good Luck

Just want to know if i should use my ll203 amp in

What radio?? Does it have single side band(SSB)? If not, then don't use SSB.

AM - amplitude modulation
SSB - single side band.

If you have SSB, there would be a switch on it to transmit in SSB. If not, it is AM only.

Second, Has this radio been worked on to be able to run on an amp? If not, you will blow the amp.

A CB radio transmits dead keys with 4 watts of power, and transmits with 4 watts of audio.

a 4 watt dead key is too much for a linear amp. You will smoke the transistors. Also, 4 watts of audio is not enough to drive it properly. You won't get full power.

The dead key needs to be around 2 to 2 -1/2 watts,or what ever makes the linear dead key half its peak wattage., and the modulation (audio) turned up all the way.

It doesn't sound like you know too much about CB radio's. Not a big deal, you can learn. For right now you may want to take it to a cb shop and tell them you want a peak and tune, and set up to run a linear.

You can find CB shops usually at truck stops. Some area's they are other places. Check the internet for local shops.

Hi, does anyone know how to connect an LED to

LED are diodes that operate around 2volts DC. A resistor must be soldered in series with anode or cathod side of diode if connecting to 12 volts DC. Anode to ground....if unsure start with 10k resistor and check voltage and work your way down to around 1.8 volts is ideal

I purchased a new 959 and would like to know what

coax---18 ft is recommened, all i sell is double sheilded, but as long as its good coax it should work fine...antenna thats a hard one because you have to match the to your tractor..meaning you have to get it tall enough to get to the top of your tractor...make sure you have a good ground..if you're mounting the mount on top of paint either use self tappin screws or scratch off the paint under the mount. hope this was helpful some things are easier to explain over the phone...if you need anymore help just let me know.

I have galaxy dx 959 the freak meter shows 27.175

it sounds like the pc board is not grounded to the frame. remove covers wedge a small screw driver on the edge of the board against the frame housing with mic keyed up. caution not to much pressure don't break the board. check the black wire on the inside of the power cord plug. last try extra ground wire for power supply to a screw on the out side of the radio cover

DX959 only tunes in 2ch steps. tune ch 40 frq disp

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

I doubt if it is the 8719 PLL (IC3 though of course it is still a possibility) since the display also shows 27.405 / 40.  Common to the PLL and the display would be the rotary selector swtich.

A way to eliminate the PLL as a suspect is to check the logic state on pins 10(P6) - 16(P0) programmable inputs.

The above assumes that no mods were added to the Galaxy DX959

Good luck and thank you for asking FixYa.

I need to up modulation on galaxy 959

Turning up the radio's power will not make your receive any better.

Turn your mic gain up. You can also use a power mic. this will bring your audio up.

If you want to turn your modulation up, turn VR16 up all the way. I can't remember which way turns it up. its always different in different radios. Try to the left all the way first. They test it. If no one hears you, you turned it all the way down. if that is the case open it up and turn it all the way the other direction.

After doing that you should have no trouble with your signal being low.

If you are not comfortable playing inside the radio, just get a good power mic, or take it to a radio shop. they are usually at truck stops. For $30 usually they will turn it all the way up.
