Where is my output ic situated
the out put ic is situated inside right side wen the unit front is facing you ,you cant miss it its bolted on a alumium heatsink silver, it has a number stk 412 150 written on it,,,
Basic HiFi troubleshooting.
First things first. The unit doesn't switch on.
- Is it plugged in?
- Is the fuse blown?
- Does it look like it's suffered damage?
It switches on, but won't play anything / the lights come on, but no sound.
- We'll start at connections. Is your MP3 player/ iPod/ CD player/ record deck plugged in correctly?
- Are the speakers plugged in correctly/ at all?
- Is it in protection mode - this is a pretty standard thing now, where the amplifier tries to deliver more than it's rated current (ie, into a short circuit), and it cuts out. The only way to fix this is to take it to a local hifi shop, who will reset it (there's usually a small fee involved). The unit will be fine after that.
------- There is no bass. ----------
A few causes for this, so there's a few solutions.
- The speakers are out of phase. This is where one speaker is wired normally, one is wired in reverse. The bass from each speaker is "opposite" and would cancel out. To solve this, Make sure the + on the speaker is connected to the + on the amplifier. There's usually a stripe on the cable to help you determine this.
Cause # 2
The eq settings on your ipod/ unit have been messed with.
Set all the equiliser settings to flat, then readjust them to taste.
Cause # 3 (nasty one)
You've blown a woofer. The explanation is this - the speakers have taken in too much power, the bass unit has got too hot and the glue holding the coil in place has melted. Usually, the woofer can't be physically pushed when this happens. To solve this, it's new speaker time. An alternative is to see if you can get a recone kit for said speaker, and try to fix the voicecoil yourself. This isn't recommended to those who are new to the idea.
I hope this helps the reader.

I WANT TO HOOKUP MY
Can I have the make and model of the tv so that I can ascertain what inputs it has behind it? The reason for this is coz the surrond system input to be built into the tv reciever otherwise you will just get mono if you plug it into the av jack.
Good morning! I wish to plug our television
You may be able to avoid messing with the optical output completely, if the TV has a headphone output, in which case, a phono-3.5mm jack adaptor will sort you out nicely.
If it has to be optical, I expect you can buy adaptors for this aswell, but I'd expect it to be more expensive.
Most local electronics stores will sell these. Radioshack is a good example. Also, you could look around on the internet.

My Sony model # MHC-V11 MAKES NO SOUND everything seems to operate but i cant get no sound from it
Troubleshoot this issue. Here are some steps you can follow:
Check Speaker Connections:
Ensure that the rear surround speakers are properly connected to the Audio/Video (A/V) receiver.
If applicable to your model, verify that the A/B speaker selector is set correctly. If the speakers are connected to the A speaker connection, the selector must be set to the A position.
Test Tone Operation:
Perform a test tone operation to check if the speakers are functioning correctly.
Increase the rear speaker volume or adjust the surround speaker settings to the maximum level.
Speaker Size Settings:
Try selecting a different size (small or large) for the rear surround speakers in the menu.
Surround Sound Mode:
Verify that the A/V receiver is set to a surround sound mode.
For Dolby ProLogic surround sound, ensure that the center-channel mode is set to NORMAL or WIDE.
If your source is a DVD or Blu-ray Disc player, check that surround sound is enabled in the player's menu.
The audio being received must be multi-channel.
Different Surround Sound Mode:
Try setting the A/V receiver to a different surround sound mode.
Source Content:
Verify that the source you are playing is encoded in surround sound.
Note that during periods of mainly dialog, most of the sound may come from the center speaker only, with audio coming out of the rear speakers when there is background or ambient noise.
Factory Reset:
Reset the unit back to factory default settings (consult your operating instructions for model-specific steps).
If applicable, follow the steps for calibrating the appropriate settings automatically after connecting the calibration microphone device.
Speaker Wires and Replacement:
Check and replace the speaker wires if necessary.
Consider connecting a different pair of speakers to see if the issue persists.
If you've tried these steps and the problem remains unresolved, I recommend seeking professional service.
