i will give you a step by step on your camcorder.

• connect your camcorder using your USB cable to your computer and be sure it is ON
• Install the cd driver camed with your camcorder. if you didnt prompt on looking for a driver then go to the add hardware on the control panel and follow the procedure there.
• after the installation you should see the icon on the my computer labeled scanners and cameras and indicating the model of your camcorder.
• Install Ulead Power Producer or any editing movie that you have like Windows movie maker, nero movier maker etc.. i prefer to use Ulead because its so easy to use
• after uploading and editing your videos using ULEAD save it on any various types of videos that you like. you should see it after you want to save it.
• burn your videos on NERO software

hey dats d most common problem.. use the original sony dv cassette and u will be okay.. don't use other ones.. such as fujifilm, etc.. i also fixed mine using d same trick.. please rate my solution.

So you are looking for service / repair manual of Sony DCR-TRV730, right?
You can buy it from Manual Zone for small fee. I would recommend to have Level2+3 manual there.
As you said you are highly qualified and camcorder is not worth to repair in service center so nice idea to give a try by yourself.

there are metal connectors in the camera that get touched to the connector that which you connect the camera.if that connectors are bent or dusty or got internally loose.this happens.it should be checked as if its bent or dirty you can manually do.but if loose internally taking it to the repair center is necessary.

You shouldn't need one. You will need a program to capture video to your computer such as Pinnacle Studio. Once the software is installed you simply plug your computer in and turn it on. The drivers will install and the Studio program will execute. Then go to the capture portion of the program to copy the video to your hard drive.

It's software controlled in Windows getting a driver won't suffice getting the job done.

You can go to Menu on the cam and on the USB by pressing Sel/Push Exec button

I don't think the battery would have affected this. I think it is more likely that the main on/off switch is at fault, or the connections to it are shorted. This needs to be checked over first, before going deeper into the control board.

You may have to weigh up how much professional repair is compared to a new unit.
If you decide a new unit is on the cards - then you have nothing to loose in taking it apart and looking for an obvious problem in the switch area. Most of the time it is either dirt, broken plastic, or the small switch discs that are at fault. - all repairable with minimum fuss.

     Handycam is a brand name from Sony. Camcorder and videocam, along with video camera are all interchangeable names for cameras that record video.

I also had a similar problem. There was a message appearing "re-insert the cassette". I contacted Sony India. They advised to reset the Handycam (there is a button 'Reset' under the LCD when it is closed). After doing the Reset the message disappeared and it is working fine at the moment. I also checked up a forum for the message. A lot of people having the same problem were suggesting to whack the camcorder on the cassette side. Although i did not have to resort to it.
