I have sony dcr trv285E

Look on the shell of the cassette, you will see a sliding panel about 3mm square. With the clear window at the top and the Rec/Save slider facing you, Move the slider to the right to the Rec (record) position. The left position is Save (cannot record) and should expose a hole. This mode is probably where the cassette is currently set.

Hello Sir.

you can use the supplied USB cable of the camcorder and connect it to a Personal Computer. You'll need a software program (video editing software) to synchronize your video file from your camcoder to your PC. Other uses TV Capture card for this process.

I need driver sony dcr-trv285e

The USB streaming driver for the Camcorder is not available for Windows 7 OS from Sony at this point. Hence it is not possible to transfer videos using USB interface. You may use i.LINK or A/V interface to transfer videos from the Camcorder to the Computer which is running on Windows 7 Operating System.

Please follow the steps to transfer video to a computer using an i.LINK connection (IEEE 1394).

IMPORTANT: Video capture software and a compatible video capture card must be installed on the computer. Depending on the computer manufacturer, various video capture cards and software (Adobe Premiere, Roxio Video Wave, Microsoft Windows Movie Maker, etc.) may be available or already installed on your computer. If necessary, contact the manufacturer of your computer for further information.

NOTE: Many Sony VAIO computers are bundled with Sony DVgate Motion or DVgate Plus software for video capturing. Some VAIO computers also include Click To DVD software that will allow video capture to the computer hard drive or directly to a DVD.

  1. Connect an i.LINK cable (also known as IEEE 1394) to the i.LINK port on the digital camcorder.

  1. Connect the other end of the i.LINK cable to the computer.

NOTE: The computer i.LINK ports and capture cards may have either 4-pin or 6-pin connections. Sony digital camcorders use i.LINK ports with 4 pins. If your computer only has a 6-pin i.LINK port, then it will be necessary to use a 4-pin to 6-pin i.LINK cable.

  1. Turn on the digital camcorder by moving the POWER switch to the VTR position.
  2. Cue the camcorder tape to the beginning of the video footage.
  3. Turn on the computer.
  4. Start the video capture software on the computer.
  5. Begin playing the recorded video in the camcorder.
  6. Begin importing the video with the capture software.

It should now be possible to copy the video using the video capture software if the computer hardware and software are configured correctly.

Thanks for understanding.

Please let me know if you require any clarifications.

My camera DCR-TRV285 is showing error and playback

When there is error you cannot really operate the digicam in normal. Make sure that there is no jam in its mechanism or there is no dew condensation happen in your digicam. If there is not then reset the digicam on its factory setting. To do this, go to menu, navigate it find, the factory setting, choose it and see what happen. Also you should be certain that the unit is clean inside. I hope my advice help you solve your problem.

I need my handicam trv285e

According to the link below, you have USB and FireWire 1394 available and these are both common inputs on PCs with the US being the most common of the two. You would need the correct cable once you make your choice.

I have sony digital8 dcr

You will need a firewire cable tro connect to the PC and use Windows Movie Maker to capture the tapes to a hard drive, dedicated hard drive is best. Expoect about 13 gig of drive space per hour.
You then export you footage to a DVD Authoring program if you have one available.

I have one sony handycam

I'm sorry you're experiencing difficulty with transferring videos from the Camcorder to the Windows 7 Computer. Unfortunately, the USB streaming the Camcorder is not compatible with Windows 7 Operating System. However, you can use either i.LINK or A/V interface to transfer videos from the Camcorder to the Windwos 7 Computer. I have provided a link where you can view the steps to transfer videos using i.LINK interface:

I have provided another link where you can view the steps to transfer videos using A/V interface:
