Are you using the correct flour? In the US you need to use flour FOR BREAD since the amount of gluten in normal flour in the US doesn't allow for normal rising of the bread. This is not a problem in Canada.

If the machine is able to run apart from the timer then a cheap fix would be use an independant Timer to plug in and switch off the Electricity when its complete most of the timers are simple to use and cheap to buy....A full replacement timer panel or mechanical timer could be quite expensive to replace...Good luck...

It is OK just to add raisins, nuts etc. by opening the top and pouring them in. Do it about 7 minutes before the end of your last knead cycle.

If your machine has a bake only cycle choose that program, but you'll need to know how many minutes to put on the timer.
