Travelmate 2480-Only One (Left-sided) Speaker Working
You need to supply more information about the repair you did to this laptop. The replacement of the D/C Jack is a very complicated procedure and requires a complete dis-assembly of the laptop. The problem is that you are going to have to open it up again to resolve the sound problem. Since it is not working in any of the normal functions. You will have to hope you did not damage the motherboard and lost the sound to one channel. If you are lucky and did not damage the motherboard, you will need to find out where the sound is lost in the channel. This is done by tracing the circuit back to the sound device. Along the way you may find cold solder joints. This will be in the form of loose component connections. I hope you have a diagram of the board and can do basic troubleshooting with a digital multimeter. You can carefully trace the circuit and try to repair the bad connection or replace a faulty component in the circuit. If you need help, try to find a place where they teach electronic repair. Go to them for help with the signal tracing and all other needed help. They will have all the proper test equipment and might even help you with the repair. There really is not a lot that can be done without knowing the type of motherboard and seeing circuits diagrams on this end. You will have to find this information either from a repair shop or maybe the repair school. The school will be a lot less costly if they have to help you with the repair. I hope this information will give you some ideas of how to proceed with the troubleshooting and repair of you laptop computer.

Connect speakers to computer
DESKTOP :
You want to look for 3 colored ports on your computer if it is a desktop
Green - Headphones / Speaker Ports
Blue - Audio In (from CD player or other device)
Pink - Microphone
You will want to take the plug from your speakers and plug it into the Green spot on the back of your computer.
LAPTOP:
If you have a laptop look on the front of the machine (usually) again you should see 3 connectors (May not be colored) but there will be a symbol next to each jack. You want to look for the speaker symbol .
Plug your speakers into there
let me know if this helps.

Acer computer
make sure that the power is on and mute is not.
Check to see if the speakers work properly before trying to
troubleshoot your system. Do this by connecting the speakers to a music
system or radio. If they do, the problem is definitely system related.
If you find that only a certain application has the problem, such as Windows Media Player or Winamp, reinstall it.
If all this is to no avail, go to the system properties [Windows] +
[Pause/Break] or right-click on my computer and select Properties and
in device manager make sure that sound card is installed properly. Look
for a yellow exclamation mark, if it present, you will have to
reinstall the drivers.
If you have an integrated sound card that is disabled in the BIOS, then
Windows will not be able to detect it. Refer to your motherboard
manual, and find out how to enable the same. Usually it is present
under the advanced peripherals section in BIOS.
If you have access to another PC, plug the sound card into that system,
and check if it is working. If the problem persists, off to a
technician you go.

Only one speaker working - acer computer speakers
1 step: kindly check the connection of the left speaker if it is plugged to the right speaker properly.
2 step: Then check the balance under volume control if it has been set in the middle.
3 step: If possible check the speaker on some other device(cd player etc) other than your pc and see if the left speaker still doesn't have any sound.
if so kindly replace them

Something was deleted
run new add new hardware wizard, this will detect hardware that may have been deleted,it will then search and find drivers for the device.also check the specs of your model and see what sound card you have in the computer. put mouse pointer on the my computer, right click on my computer choose properties a window will open, click hardware, then device manager, left click on the computer (top of list) the look for scan for changes. and this should detect any missing devices. and should search for drivers for that hardware. good luck hope this helps the problem.glen p.s (check speaker connections)

Acer speakers
hello, check the volume. also the jacks are color coded. green is speakers, pink is mic, blue is line in. if this does not help, consider adding sound card(this will give a better quality of sound than onboard sound) hope this helps! good luck, glen.
