HP f2105 21" LCD Monitor - Page 3 Questions & Answers
How can i open the body or case to repair of hp
Please check first if your LCD monitor is still under Warranty period, if yes, then I recommend to bring the unit to authorized service center to properly diagnose & fix the problem, because if you open it yourself & probably broken its seal then the Warranty will be Void & other problem/s that may arise / found will no longer be covered by their free service / part replacement.
If no longer covered by a Warranty, then you can open it by yourself, by turning (counterclockwise) its lock screws to open its back cover & check the circuit board parts / connections if loose/broken/defective. regards
My 3 years old hp f2105 got the prolem: the power
If this monitor has an external power supply "brick" like a laptop does then you need to test it for power output and replace it if needed. If it has just the typical PC power cord plugged into a 3 prong socket in the monitor it will be an internal power supply failure. About 3 yrs old is about the right time for it possibly to be bad electrolytic capacitors. If you have the skills to open the unit where you can see the internal boards (please unplug the unit while it's open to prevent electrical shock) you need to look at the little can shaped parts, usually with an X or K stamped into the top. If the tops are perfectly flat they are probably ok but if they are swelling up or are split and leaking a small brownish or whitish compound (dont wipe it with your finger, I have no idea what's in that leakage) then you have the problem - bad capacitors. You will need to replace them or have a shop replace them. Ideally the same uF (microfarad, measure of capacitance) and voltage rating should be used as well as the same size as most dont have much room but you can substitute with a higher voltage rating. If a capacitor is a 1000uF 25V you can use a 1000uF 35V but dont use a 16V. Many people have used close to the same uF rating and been ok but remember an electronics engineer specified that capacitance for a reason when he/she designed the circuit so it's best to use the same. Caps with both leads on one side, typical of board parts, are called radial and ones with a lead out of each end are axial. Places like Digikey, Mouser Electronics, Jameco and others have them listed by uF, V and size. Some more common ones are still stocked at Radio Shack but I prefer to use better quality at lower prices. If anything a local TV shop may have parts on hand they can sell you individually. Alternative is to replace the bad board as an assembly, or replace the monitor which is what the manufacturers want you to do so they sell more.
The montier turns on then turns right off
Hi!
When a monitor display image for a second and then goes to black screen... there are possible reasons why this problem
occur..
1. You need to check if the high voltage ballast
transformer of your backlight inverter is about to be burned... the
transformer is overheating..that's why you experience the monitor
working for a couple of seconds and then it will shut off until the
transformer cool down again and then it will be ready to work again...
2. Check also the backlight inverter if it is busted...the backlight inverter is the light source responsible for the image display you seen on your screen. If this are busted then all that you will be seeing is black screen
3.
You need to check the power supply section for possible loose
connections and possible blown and bad capacitors..
the ballast transformer has direct
effect on power supply section.. when there is overheating
transformer,,, the supply current from the power supply section becomes
unstable.. and will not be able to supply the remaining good working
ballast transformer.
In case you do not know, the ballast
transformer generates high voltage for the backlight inverter to
work....
Please be advise that if
you don't have the knowledge, the proper skills and the right tools to
open the back cover of your monitor and replace its part...don't risk
it...
Otherwise, bring your unit to a credible technician and avail of warranty if there is any.....
Much appreciated if you rate this help...thanks...
I have a HP F2105
Hi,

There is no alternative but to replace this part.
Desktop Monitor Inverter
The defective inverter will cause the following symptoms like No Display or Dim screen
Thanks for contacting Fixya and please accept the solution if it has helped you.
What are the normal and / or recommended normal
The normal screen setting from OS depends on the ability for you to read the output on your screen.
you can set that by right clicking an empty space on your desktop, properties, setting, screen resolution. Adjust this setting to what suites you. Apply the setting and Ok.
I need to reset my hp monitor to 1600 X 900
You should be able to do a right click on the desktop. Things differ a bit between version of Windows. However, it should say something like "personalize" , It is usually the bottom item on the list. Also, you can go to the control panel and select the display.
How do you get rid of the osd lockout it keeps
Hi,
The OSD can be enabled or disabled by pressing and holding the Menu button on the front panel for 10 seconds. If the OSD is locked, the warning message “OSD Lock” displays for 10 seconds.
If the OSD is locked, press and hold the Menu button for 10 seconds to unlock the OSD.
Hope this solves your problem. Thanks for using FixYa
Monitor will not come on.
It will display 'no input' if it does not detect video signal from your PC, first thing to check will be the VGA cable, check both ends to make sure they are plugged in securely at both ends. The problem can also be in the video card in the PC, but before opening up the PC, you should try this monitor on another PC first. We need to narrow down the cause first.
This is what inside your monitor if you are going to DIY repair:

Common problem with this model is failed LCD panel, the backlight lamp assemblies go bad or the LCD controller board goes bad.
