Freon Replacement
Most refrigerants for household appliances are regulated by the E.P.A. purchase and or service of the refrigerant must be done by an EPA Type I, II or III service technician. There are potentially huge penalties for non compliance.

I own a DeLonghi Penguino
Yes, it can be recharged with refrigerant. But, it's best left to the pros. But, before saying that's exactly what it needs. I'd like to know if the compressor is in fact turning ON or is it just the fan running?

I don't think the carpeting is the issue. From what you have described, it sounds like the tubing from the upper tank to the lower tank may be clogged and water is overflowing. Also check the drain plug on the rear of the unit, making sure that it is screwed in tightly.
To check and clear a clog, if necessary, you will have to turn the unit OFF and unplug it, before removing the top portion of the unit's cabinet. Consult Owner's Manual for the procedure to accomplish this.
If you require repair other than what is listed above, contact Delonghi Customer Support 800-322-3848.
I hope this helps you troubleshoot & solve the problem. Thanks for choosing FixYa.

The unit will operate fine
The lights indicate that the programme has ended - the unit react like it was programmed to function for just 5 to 10 minutes and then stop. Check first that the timer is indeed stopped - its button (bottom left, next to the fan button) must be PRESSED - the opposite of what you would expect. If the button is indeed pressed then you must check its working status by opening the case and measuring the resistance on its contacts - you do that by dismantling the casing of the unit to access the connectors behind the front panel.
If the timer works correctly then the fault is in the thermostat - it has failed and it will have to be replaced. Finding one for an older model like yours will be difficult. If you can't find one you can just bypass it by joining the 2 wires going to it - you will have to manually shut it down from now on.

Delonghi Pinguino K900, continued to
There a several things that can cause the problem you have described.
1. The Dehumidifier Mode is operating at the same time as the AC or is operation on it's on.
In dehumidifier Mode heat is produced.
2. Air filter needs to be removed and cleaned.
3. A blockage or crimp in the exhaust hose.
4. The exhaust has a leak or has come loose from the unit.
5. The unit is sitting in direct sunlight or is adjacent to a heat producing appliance.
6. Compressor needs to be recharged with R134a refrigerant gas.
The 6 things listed above are where you need to start troubleshooting. 5 of which are easy to check and correct.
Hope this helps you and thanks for choosing FixYa.

Empty wateron DeLonghi Pinguino Pac L 90
That probably is Ft, meaning full tank. Look on the bottom of the back side, and there should be a small "hatch" that will open. The two small hoses in there are drain hoses that can be unplugged to drain the tank. They're right at the bottom, so if you have a way to raise the unit up a little that would let you drain the water into a container. Might be a good time to clean the filter too.
