Contact Panasonic directly and they can provide you with the bypass code for your unit. It usually is free. They have a toll free number you can call that I will list below.
Best of luck. Let me know if this solves your problem.

It will not take disc,
Hello,
first you have to open the appliances and clean the laser, check for the rubber attached to the motor if it is okay, if slack you can replace for the size that work with it , if otherwise you have a bad drive. The following website sells the drives and does installs:
store.richspsxparts.com/wiiredvddr
This drive should fix any reading issues you are having with your dvd plates, or issues inserting your DVD plate or ejecting them (or lack thereof). This is the entire DVD drive assembly mechanism replacement for your DVD PLAYER including a new laser. If your discs are not ejecting, or you cannot insert a disc -- or you can insert a disc but it will not load, this is what you need to get your DVD PLAYER going again!
Hope this helps.

Hi and welcome to FixYa,
Initially, is this a first time install or has been used before and the problem is fairly recent?
Offhand, if a first hand install, was the e-brake wire connected or bypassed? If it worked before and problem just came up, shine a flashlight to the screen at an angle. The picture/display maybe there just not visible. If semblance could be seem (even dark), then it would be a backlighting issue.
Good luck and thank you for asking FixYa.
