Directions for Resetting the Daylight

Unfortunately, you can't reset the firmware of the clock for those built before Jan 2006; you can work-around the issue. You will need to change time zones for the few weeks between the current daylight savings start and end dates and the ones that were built into the clock. For details see: http://www.emersonradio.com/dst.htm ; click on the link for Group 1.

If the unit was built before Jan 2006 (the serial number will start with a value less than 6), switch the time zone to the next one further east on the second Sunday of March, then set it back to your correct time zone on the first Sunday of April. Repeat this on the last Sunday of October and the first Sunday of November. (If you are in the Eastern time zone (zone 2), set the switch to zone 1.)

If the unit was built between Jan 2006 and July 2006 (serial numbers that start 601 to 606), then you can change the start and end dates for DST. See: http://www.emersonradio.com/dst.htm then choose the Group 2 link. Press and hold the Alarm 1 button then press the Month/Date or Calendar button. After three seconds the unit will display the start date for daylight savings. Press and hold the Alarm 1 and Month/Date or Calendar buttons. When the display is flashng (within 5 seconds from the press and hold step), press the Down or Set button (depending on the SmartSet mode) three times until the display reads 3 and F2 (alternating with the date of that Sunday).

For the end date, press and hold Alarm 2 then press the Month/Date or Calendar button. Then press and hold Alarm 1 and the Month/Date or Calendar button. Again within 5 seconds, press the Up button or Set until the display shows 11 and F.

If the display stops flashing, repeat and set the new dates faster.

You'll have to repeat this is the battery is removed or replaced.

I hope this helps.

I have an emerson clk1850

You will need to manually change your time zone for a few weeks (to compensate for the schedule the unit enters and leaves DST) It's a side effect of changing DST laws.

Looking at the first three digits of your serial number, your unit was manufactured in December of 2004. Thus you need to:

Step 1 On the second Sunday in March you would have to set your clock to the next lowest number time zone.

For example: If you lived in the Eastern Time zone (Zone 2) you would then change your clock to Zone 1 to move it ahead by one hour.

Step 2 On the first Sunday in April, your clock will automatically advance by one hour. You must then set the clock back to your correct time zone.

For example if you lived in the Eastern Time zone you would set your clock back to Zone 2.

Step 3 On the last Sunday in October you would again set your clock to the next lower numbered time zone.

Step 4 On the first Sunday in November you would again set your clock back to your correct time zone.

http://www.emersonradio.com/dst.htm has the details.

There is no CLK1850 that I am aware of. The SmartSet series will let you manually adjust the minute if you press and hold the Time button and then press the up or down buttons. Shifting the time zone setting is easier than manually changing the time on those four days.

The manual for the CKS1850 is here: http://www.emersonradio.com/owners/SmartSet%20Series/CKS1850-1851_072706.pdf . Most Emerson manuals are here: http://www.emersonradio.com/owners .

I hope this helps.

Since the time change I can't reset my clock. It

If your clock radio is more than two years years old it will be operating on the old changeover schedule, and there's no way that you can change the schedule. What you can do though, is turn the DST switch (if so equipped) to the OFF position and change the time manually. If yours is an "atomic" clock you can force the change by setting the clock to a different time zone. (I have an atomic clock that's set up on the old schedule. DST is OFF, and I change the zone between the Central and Eastern time zones.)

Can i turn off the daylight saving on my emmerson

According the manual for your clock the DST function is automatic and cannot be switched off. If you need to defeat it for some reason, the simplest method would be to select a different time zone when the clock changes for DST. Need the manual? You can download/print it here:

MY CKS1850 SMART CLOCK. IT IS A FEW YEARS OLD. IT

The daylight saving time change is calendar based, and unfortunately there is no way to reprogram it to the new schedule. You'll have to make the time changes manually.

Daylight Savings Times Changed

We set the time zone to '7' , which is Hawaii time zone where there is no change for daylight savings. This came up because it changed automatically on this morning...and although we can change it back, then it won't change next week when it should. So we're hoping that by setting it to Hawaii it will be a regular clock, we will do the changing...but at least we won't be surprized as we were this AM.

Wrong date on the radio.

RESETTING THE CLOCK AFTER A TOTAL MEMORY LOSS

If you do not change the built in lithium battery within a reasonable period of time after you see the ‘flashing’ LOW BATT. warning indicator, the lithium battery may become exhausted and will no longer be able to supply back up power to the SmartSet internal computer.

If the unit is disconnected from the AC outlet after the battery is exhausted, or if a power interruption occurs, the SmartSet memory will be lost and the clock will need to be reset when the power is restored. Be sure to install a fresh lithium battery before you reset the clock, otherwise the clock will need to be reset each time the power is interrupted.

If the lithium battery is exhausted and you experience an interruption in the AC power supply, the clock will reset itself to its initial default setting when the power is restored.

The initial default setting is “12:00 AM, Saturday, January 1
(1 1), 2005”.

If you notice that the time on your SmartSet clock radio is completely incorrect, and the day indicator is also wrong, press the MONTH/DATE button to see the date. If the date display is showing “1 1” (January 1 ), you probably experienced
a total memory loss. To reset the clock after a total memory loss, proceed as follows:

1.) Install a new CR2430 lithium battery in the battery compartment.

2.) Connect the radio to your AC outlet and let the clock set itself.

3.) Depress the MONTH/DATE and TIME buttons together. The display will change from ‘time’ to ‘year’. While holding the MONTH/DATE and TIME buttons, press the UP button to
set the display to the correct year, then release the buttons.

4.) Depress the MONTH/DATE button. The display will change from ‘time’ to 'month/date’ (mm/dd). While holding the MONTH/DATE button, press the UP button to set the display
to the correct month and date. The Day indicator will change automatically as you adjust the month/date settings. When the correct month and date appear on the display, release the buttons.

5.) Depress the TIME button and the UP button to set the display to the correct time. Be sure to confirm that you have set the time correctly to ‘AM’ or ‘PM’ by observing the AM indicator.

6.) After you set the time, reconfirm that the Day, and Month/Date displays are still correct. Make final adjustments if necessary.

The SmartSet clock memory is now reset and the new lithium battery will maintain it for the next 5 to 8 years, depending on the number and duration of the power outages you experience.

IMPORTANT NOTE:
After resetting the clock, don’t forget to reset your wake up times, and alarm mode settings, and sleep timer settings as well.
