There is a solution for this already. You can reprogram the clock to use the new DST settings.

If your clock radio is more than two years years old it will be operating on the old changeover schedule, and there's no way that you can change the schedule. What you can do though, is turn the DST switch (if so equipped) to the OFF position and change the time manually. If yours is an "atomic" clock you can force the change by setting the clock to a different time zone. (I have an atomic clock that's set up on the old schedule. DST is OFF, and I change the zone between the Central and Eastern time zones.)

The daylight saving time change is calendar based, and unfortunately there is no way to reprogram it to the new schedule. You'll have to make the time changes manually.

First, make sure the time is set correctly – Eastern Standard Time (EST) is the default
Press the Alarm Mode button – it has options for Weekend, meaning Sat and Sun only; Weekdays (Mon-Fri), and Everyday
While holding either the ALM 1 or ALM 2 button, press up or down to set the correct wake-up time
Release ALM 1 (or 2) when you are finished

Press the "alarm mode" button and change it with the + and - buittons. On the display you should see what days it will go off.

At the beginning of 2007, Daylight Savings time will begin on the second Sunday in March and end on the first Sunday in November. Because of this change your SmartSet® Clock or Clock Radio will need to be updated. In order to set your unit we will need the following information from you: 1. Model Number You can find your model number on the back or bottom of your unit. (Click here for an example) 2. Serial Number You can find your serial number on the back or bottom of your unit. (Click here for an example) Based on this information we can identify which setting is necessary to adjust your unit for compliance with day light savings. There are three possible groups your SmartSet® Clock or Clock Radio could fall into: Group One changes the time zone to a previous time zone. Group Two adjusts for the spring and fall settings. Group Three is already set for 2007 daylight savings compliance. Group identification begins with your serial number. The first three to four digits of the serial number represent the year and month of manufacture. (If your serial number begins with 0607, that would indicate July 2006, 506 would indicate June 2005.) Models manufactured before January 2006 (serial number 506, 512, etc.) will follow Group One settings. Models manufactured between January 2006 and July 2006 (serial number 0601, 0603, etc.) will follow Group Two settings. RESETTING THE CLOCK AFTER A TOTAL MEMORY LOSS

If you do not change the built in lithium battery within a reasonable period of time after you see the ‘flashing’ LOW BATT. warning indicator, the lithium battery may become exhausted and will no longer be able to supply back up power to the SmartSet internal computer.

If the unit is disconnected from the AC outlet after the battery is exhausted, or if a power interruption occurs, the SmartSet memory will be lost and the clock will need to be reset when the power is restored. Be sure to install a fresh lithium battery before you reset the clock, otherwise the clock will need to be reset each time the power is interrupted.

If the lithium battery is exhausted and you experience an interruption in the AC power supply, the clock will reset itself to its initial default setting when the power is restored.

The initial default setting is “12:00 AM, Saturday, January 1
(1 1), 2005”.

If you notice that the time on your SmartSet clock radio is completely incorrect, and the day indicator is also wrong, press the MONTH/DATE button to see the date. If the date display is showing “1 1” (January 1 ), you probably experienced
a total memory loss. To reset the clock after a total memory loss, proceed as follows:

1.) Install a new CR2430 lithium battery in the battery compartment.

2.) Connect the radio to your AC outlet and let the clock set itself.

3.) Depress the MONTH/DATE and TIME buttons together. The display will change from ‘time’ to ‘year’. While holding the MONTH/DATE and TIME buttons, press the UP button to
set the display to the correct year, then release the buttons.

4.) Depress the MONTH/DATE button. The display will change from ‘time’ to 'month/date’ (mm/dd). While holding the MONTH/DATE button, press the UP button to set the display
to the correct month and date. The Day indicator will change automatically as you adjust the month/date settings. When the correct month and date appear on the display, release the buttons.

5.) Depress the TIME button and the UP button to set the display to the correct time. Be sure to confirm that you have set the time correctly to ‘AM’ or ‘PM’ by observing the AM indicator.

6.) After you set the time, reconfirm that the Day, and Month/Date displays are still correct. Make final adjustments if necessary.

The SmartSet clock memory is now reset and the new lithium battery will maintain it for the next 5 to 8 years, depending on the number and duration of the power outages you experience.

IMPORTANT NOTE:
After resetting the clock, don’t forget to reset your wake up times, and alarm mode settings, and sleep timer settings as well.

I am going to try changing to time zone 7 (Hawaiian Time). Hawaii does not observe DST so this should turn the clock into a regular clock that ignores DST and you need to set yourself twice a year.

We set the time zone to '7' , which is Hawaii time zone where there is no change for daylight savings. This came up because it changed automatically on this morning...and although we can change it back, then it won't change next week when it should. So we're hoping that by setting it to Hawaii it will be a regular clock, we will do the changing...but at least we won't be surprized as we were this AM.
