The part where the SD cards are inserted could be dirty and should be cleaned out with qutips and rubbing alcohol or it could also needs replaced as well.

Try replacing batteries

This answer is 8 years too late, but whatever. The PC1263 is actually the PowerShot A590 IS. To delete all photos, press the "MENU" button, select the "Playback" tab (the one that looks like a little triangle) and scroll down until you see the option "Erase All." Press the Select button and confirm. All photos will be erased.

9 years old model, probably not worth repair. You can get used one on ebay for little money

Same as any camera - uncover lens, point camera at subject, press shutter button. Simples.

The camera is trying to process information to or from the memory card. If the status does not change after a few minutes, you may have a damaged memory card. Turn the camera off. Remove the memory card and inspect it. Reinsert the memory card. Can you view photos on the LCD by pressing the arrow button? If so reconnect to your computer. If not, you most likely have a damaged memory card. Try inserting the memory card into a card reader connected directly to your computer. This may be able to still read the card when your camera cannot.

Check to see if the battery had a charge.

It sound like a fault with the auto connection probably a broken or cracked ribbon cable. May well need a replacement
